It was easy again. I did another free trial of the Roxit PDF Phantom thing. It's all good now.
The actual holidays or the general hosting idea doesn't bother me. It's the crapstorm in front of it from my wife believing it needs to be EXACTLY a certain way in order to impress her family or friends (which it never comes out that way since my family is very laid back and goes with the flow). Everything needs to be like it was when she was a kid.
We always went to my family for lunch because her family did all day from lunch through supper and my family gave up christmas eve since her family was adamant that we went to their place for it. Now with her dad passing, her mom couldn't host it. My sister said that any of my wife's family was welcome but her mom won't go to any of my families houses except ours; so we have to host; but its seen as my family being the inconvenience.
Enough venting about in-laws.
It is fine if you can delegate food with your family. We hosted a number of times, I think I only make the turkey once or twice by myself. My sister has mashed potatoes and pies down to a science. My other sister will make sides or bing appetizers. Parents are good for freezer corn and appetizers.
We will be at the IL’s again this year. I will make some sort of dessert that isn’t pumpkin or apple pie. Last year I made a chocolate truffle pie and that was the first one gone.
I wish it was just the food, that would be simple. It will become like Christmas where I just dread the whole time from December 15th to about January 5th. I learn to find odd jobs (many become taking naps in the pickup or repairing the corn head type things already) at the farm during that time. We live in her hometown and everything is a competition between her family and friends. I'm not the husband you want to have if that's your goal because I care 0% what others think of me.
Well, because we're now talking Thanksgiving and turkey, let me proudly say that one year I did indeed make a turkey in the microwave. Guests were DH's parents, his grandpa and grandma, and sister. The turkey was cooked fine and no one got ill. I'm pretty sure it was not a 25-pounder though, because it wouldn't have fit in the microwave.
I fell for that stupid thing when my daughter was texting me. I kept saying over and over that it was a dumb idea and telling her why it was a dumb idea.

That recipe looks simple but good. I think the last time we did it it was with a commercial brining kit. We'll have to try the recipe--we'll call it G's Brine, or something.

Local stations reporting 3-5 inches of snow Friday and more throughout the weekend. Wish I was joking.
Being old I am asking here and not in the cable thread. What do people prefer PSvue or Hulu?
That's what I understood. Thus my comment about a small "a" because Auburn the university brings back not-so-good memories.
