Speaking of not wearing the other team's colors, I had a co-worker who was also a high school BB coach. I went to one of his games and was surprised to see that the had a yellow and green tie on when that was the other team's colors. Apparently he intentionally did this for every game. He thought it gave him and his team a psychological advantage - something like, "We aren't afraid of you, no matter who you are."

Of course he was a former D-1 All American so he wasn't intimidated by anyone.

We play one team in HS baseball that basically has identical uniforms. One has a light stripe down the side of the pants in the seam otherwise just the name on the front.

Go to Walmart and turn those inside out and throw in the garbage on the way out.
Years ago when I was in school at ISU we had a family Christmas thing going with the ex-inlaws. I started opening one gift and I noticed the cameras coming out. It was a pair of sweatpants from my SIL and her boyfriend that were yellow with a huge 'IOWA' down the leg. I promptly turned them inside out and wore them for years that way. I was a poor college student and I needed the clothes. It also ticked them off a little that I didn't raise a stink about it.:p

When our oldest was born, we were at the in laws and one of their friends dropped a gift off and left. MIL said that her friend said we’d like it. Wife made me sit by her as she opened it. It was an Iowa onesy. I looked and said “jimmy” is never wearing that. MIL started to get upset. Wife showed it and then the uneasiness happened. One public U diploma in the room at it sure as heck wasn’t from Iowa. MIL said they assumed I was a hawk fan, didn’t know I graduated from ISU. Thing never was worn.

One year while I was on RAGBRAI our daughter was staying with the inlaws. My wife's cousin texted us a picture of our little girl in an Iowa shirt thinking it was funny. I told them to, "GET THAT **** OFF OF HER before she gets a rash from it."

It isn't for most of us. Fortunately we have a closet half full of ISU short & long-sleeved t-shirts in both cardinal & gold, dating back as far as 20 years. @MeanDean can vouch for this! :D

I'm hoping it will be cool weather, because most of the yellow (gold) shirts are long-sleeved. The ones that aren't tend to mention other teams, with "Gold Rules" on the front and sayings like "BBQ Texas" or "Beat Kansas" on the back. And a couple of them have been relegated to yard-work shirts due to worn spots and stains.
There needs to be an official "Kansas Must be Destroyed" shirt.

Am I a jerk for not wearing yellow on Saturday? Not that I don't support her I just don't have any have anything yellow.

It’s like 5 bucks for a T-shirt man! I only have one and it’s a tshirt, so I’ll probably just wear my Under Armor long sleeve under it to stay warm. And maybe steal one of these ISU winter hats sitting in my living room that are supposed to be given away at the game watches.

Mason City was unique in colors back when I was there and we were in the CIML (not sure if they’re still there now) with our red and blacks. But I’m my sophomore and junior year our coach at the time decided to copy Nebraska and went with their red and white and identical looking uniforms, including a red M on a white helmet like Nebraska work the N. Luckily, my senior year we went back to the badass looking red and black.

Fist bump on red & black for high school colors. Our HS usually wore red jerseys and black pants at home...believe helmets were red.

And yes, Mason City is still in the CIML. They have to travel down to Ottumwa for the last game of the season...that's over 3 hours of travel.

Eh. I remember traveling to Newton. On a bus, that had to have been over 3 hours.

And my senior year we went black pants/black jerseys/black helmets, which, I won’t lie, was pretty awesome.

Yeah but it's not the same in football since the suburb schools ruined it. I'm still bitter about that and that was years ago.

My mom is contacting a local screen printing place tomorrow...otherwise I will hit up Hy Five or Dicks.
