This weekend is a free weekend for Showtime. Hopefully their On Demand stuff will be free. They have a movie I want to see. Its a remake of the 1980 Slasher "Maniac" starring Elijah Wood. I found that a very interesting casting choice and would like to see how it turned out.

Have you seen the original with Joe Spinelli? (He played in the Godfather movies.) A really disturbing, nasty film.

Oh yea, several times. Tom Savini did the gore effects and blows his own head up in one scene.
And I must say the ending is awesome.

Our 7th grade girl now has bigger feet than our senior. She started giving her older sister the shoes that don't fit her anymore.
Mrs. Velo was getting the hand-me-down shoes from both of our kids for a little while since they have both now passed her. Yesterday I saw a packing slip for two pair of shoes she ordered. I suddenly realized that she had ordered a pair of kids shoes for herself and a pair of women's shoes for our daughter. Her four word explanation: "Kids shoes are cheaper."

Visited and toured the LST 325 museum ship which is docked in Bettendorf through this weekend. Was 99% sure this was one of the very LST's that landed my dad's outfit on Utah Beach in 1944 based on stuff I had on his unit history and pictures of the ship landing his type of artillery. Bought a book on the ship today and sure enough "That afternoon (June 10) vehicles and troops from the 980th Field Artillery Battalion were loaded aboard." Yup, that was my dads unit. Book mentions another LST hitting a mine and exploding which I remember my dad telling me about. So, cool.

I was running late for class today so I drove to campus and parked in the ramp at the MU. I live up by the mall so walking is out of the question if I need to get to campus in any reasonable amount of time, and the bus routes/schedules changed this year so the bus only comes near my house once an hour. I sat through all my classes, took a couple quizzes, and was relieved when my last class was finally over and I could go home. I walked to the bus stop, debated walking home since it was so nice outside but eventually decided that I might as well just wait for the bus. When I got home, I walked inside thinking that something was different about our house but I just couldn't figure it out. It really bugged me so I went back outside and stood in our front yard; and then it hit me. There was one less car in the driveway than normal, because mine was still in the parking ramp at the MU. Oops.

Went to Culver's today. Parked across from the door so I could watch my car while I was waiting. No other cars are parked to the left of me so there are like 10 spaces open. Some FIB parks right next to me, outside the lines. I'm not parked very well, I was on the right line, so there was a lot of space on my left. Nope, this lady is way over her right line so I could barely get in my car.

Also hate when I'm at Culver's and I have already ordered, I'm waiting away from the counter, holding my number and drink in my hand, and people ask if I have ordered yet.

When I was in school, my bf parked his car on campus on Friday night, imbibed a bit too much at Wilson Compton Union and walked back home with his buddies. Monday morning, he realized his car was gone, finally remembered where it was and went to retrieve it. 3 tickets totalling $105 (in 1975 dollars when tuition was ~$300/semester). He managed to talk them out of two of the tickets by convincing them that it wasn't three days of violations, but one three-day violation. :D
