Pink floyd concert. This would have been an awful thing to patrol.

Pretty sure the Mason City station (KIMT) is run out of Minnesota now. I think the local crew is bare bones.

They and KAAL (Austin) have moved most of their news coverage to Rochester. The have the main anchor still in MC, but have 0 sports reporters so we don't know what they will do this friday come the start of football. We believe they will post scores and that is it.

I was just mentioning that they have 0 sports folks and maybe there was an opening whereever it might be.

Went to a mom and baby class thing today. Just for new moms and babies to chat and such. Good way to get out of the house. Twas interesting. DH went along though he couldn't attend but I didn't want to go alone yet. So he ran errands.

I get in and bump the car seat on the door, a chair, and kinda roughly set it down when I pick a spot. Doing great, mom. Still navigating this carrying a car seat + diaper bag thing. People are still coming in and child decides you know what, I know you just fed me before we left 30 minutes ago, but I could really go for a snack, you know? Ughhhhhhhh. Ugh. Fine. Ok. Let's do this. Class starts and they're talking about stuff, whatever. Lady next to me has a baby girl a few weeks older who is intently watching my kid eat. Think she developed a crush on my handsome boy due to him having a full head of hair among all these other bald boys. Later in class when I was standing behind her and her mom (cause my kid was losing his ****), she reached out a hand to baby CG. Definitely love.
Anyway, we get done eating and I see the diaper is dirty. Fine. Let's go do that too and then you'll sleep and I can actually listen. They have a scale by the changing area so I plop baby CG on and sort of loudly go "holy ****" at this chunk. Some of it was diaper but geez kid, I know they say babies can't overeat but I think he's trying to be the first. Breaking barriers and all that. Guess I can stop worrying about losing all my muscle mass. My biceps are going to be niiiiiiice.

So we crawl back around to sit - room was very full and like 3 moms had to move car seats to let me through - and settle in. Baby is looking very woke and not nap-like as I had hoped. I bounce and hold him and within 10 minutes I give up and feed him, again. Then we sit on my lap. Five minutes later FLPPPPPPPPPPPPPTTTTTTTTTTT. He emptied his diaper, again. And loudly. The mom next to me "that was a good one". Yes, yes it was. So good that I was extremely concerned about lifting him up because I felt the force and believed I may now be wearing it. But I was good. However, I get to go crawling back over to change him again. While there, I note that the pieces of like, wax? tissue? paper they give you to set baby on while changing are nice but not padded or anything. Kinda hard surface to change baby on. As I think this, I realize that those papers are for setting on the baby scale. For diaper changing, you're expected to bring over your changing pad. Like the one in my diaper bag. Back over at my chair. Derp. Back to the chair we go, freshly diapered and surely finally content, right? Nope. We start crying. Not cute cries. Loud cries. The other moms giving sympathetic glances while going "can you repeat that" because despite his small size, baby CG filled that decent sized room with his voice.

I'm now standing in a corner trying to figure out why the hell this kid is still crying and fussy. He keeps getting angrier. Finally give up and decide to try feeding AGAIN. Bingo, still hungry. Now I'm that mom who let her kid cry and cry when he was clearly starving to death. Proceeds to eat for the rest of class and finally falls asleep as I have to put him back in his car seat. Which of course, wakes him up. Was inside for a whole 80 minutes. We ate three times and pooped twice. I leave the room and text DH that I'm ready. Notice there is poop under my nail. Don't worry, I went and washed my hands before leaving then.

Now baby is happily asleep at home. If I go next week, I'm on my own, no DH!
CG is officially BACK!!

The FOX station in Omaha has only field reporters. Their tapes are processed in Davenport (I believe) and the news broadcast is recorded there and then aired in Omaha. That way they don't have to have a studio or anchors.

Son has FB Friday against the team he got hurt against last year. Thursday my daughter has VB. Is expected to play some varsity. She gets to play my Alma mater who I think has won every conference VB title this millennium. Our VB wins 2 games a year. Local community college VB is loaded with alumni from my school.

We just had a volleyball friend move to your alma mater, they are excited because where they moved from did not have a lot of support for volleyball and this place goes all out for volleyball as you know. She is a sophomore, will play varsity. They did not move because of Volleyball, moved so the husband would have a shorter work commute. But so far they love it there.

Good and bad to hear. Until tomorrow, bad; after we play them, good. They support their community well. Academics has a better foundation than where we currently live. I honestly wish that was my kids' district.

You made me look at quikstats. I have a good idea who it is by going off names that I know. There is definitely some high drama with the girls in that class, my daughter is that age and there are some of my classmates kids that are the same age so I know who a few are. Funny thing is, the pain in the butt families that were there when I was a kid, are still the pain in the butt families. Just dropped down a generation.

I'm no expert but I imagine baby CG wasn't used to being in a crowded room and between the new people and the noises was scared.

20 years ago when my nephew was about 3 months old I went out to eat at Outback with two sisters and BILs and she brought my nephew. He started crying so fortunately I eat in about 30 seconds and take him outside. Calm him down and bring him back in. Instantly starts crying again so I hand my sister a $20 to cover my food and take him back outside. He instantly stopped crying. I just sat and bounced him around while they finished eating.

It's hard to believe that it's been a year since Game of Thrones season 7 ended. It seems like it's been about 10 years. How long does it take to record 6 freaking episodes. It's like the final season of The Sopranos. I think HBO dragged that out for close to 3 years.

Sorry to double quote you but Venice has got to be the most overrated place on Earth.

It is tiny as ****, it's expensive, the food is no better than Omaha Nebraska, and the thing that no one tells you is the smell. It smells like someone took a dump in a cup of sea water and duct taped it to your chest. I don't know how anyone could think that place is romantic with that smell.

I understand why people gotta see it and the architecture was great but that is about it for the city.

I will say though that the hotel I stayed at is in my top 3 hotels I have ever stayed in. It was it's own private island off the hustle and bustle of the streets. You either took the twice hourly ferry which held like 12 people or got one of the island's private boats from anywhere in Venice for $20+tip. The private boat was bad ass and I felt like James Bond whenever it came to pick us up. I would just say the name of a restaurant or thing I was nearby and bam, a boat was there within 10min. We hopped on and sped off into the night.

Then the entrance to the hotel was underneath it via boat and I felt like I was sneaking up onto the villain's lair every time.

Plus their Michelin star restaurant on the island didn't have a dress code for lunch and even though the menu was limited, I still have dreams about the Spghetti Allo Scoglio:

I would go back only for the hotel and I would highly recommend that hotel for anyone going there as a romantic getaway.

Lots o'winning here today.

I have this neat spreadsheet filled with primary sources that I assembled for this course last time I taught it. Gets good things going and it's free for students, links are to free sites. It's nice.

Turns out that the guy who led the program that assembled a lot of them retired or something, so Fordham changed all the links. Cracked the code this morning and worked the "find/replace" option to clean everything up.

Another beautiful site filled with religious links for the ancient world turned their free site into an expensive book. Some of those links I could replace, others just met the delete key and vanished forever.

After a delay that's all my fault, DMACC has me in the system now and everything is falling together rapidly for tomorrow's first meeting. Now they're all in trouble.
