Figured out how to re-register the kid fire. The unlimited free time free trial was over and I couldn't get the apps back. So, before I could download more I had to reset the entire thing.

Z is happily trying out the new apps and hopefully won't miss any of the Toca Boca games.
 
I hate ******** answers like that. By "remain competitive" they mean "offer as little as possible while maintaining acceptable retention." My company gave an answer like that last year after some nasty changes as well. It was doubly insulting when I found out what they were using as competitors for comparison was decidedly not the same caliber pool we were recruiting talent from. And I love how while the company will not aim to outperform competitors when it comes to benefits/incentives, they will sure as hell expect you to have outperform in order to receive incentives.

I typed out a long rant about our margins and what not but I'm just gonna leave it alone. Can't be saying stupid stuff on the internet too much.
 
Box, I'm sure your woodworking knowledge is wide - the pieces you buy are uniformly excellent! - but I'm wondering if you have ever used tung oil to finish your pieces. I swear by it.

Have not. Actually I am more carpenter than woodworker Not much on the finish skills end of things.

I had a company where you got reviewed every two years for increases. They told you the parameters you had to hit in order to get it. I was on pace for a 4K/year bump. 2 months before my review cut time, they changed about 4 different parameters since the new boss thought we were getting over paid.

3 of the four tripped me into only a 2k increase. I mentioned that they basically changed everything afterwards. They didn’t care.
 
left the house for the first time since last Thursday (aside from walks) to run to Target. I was gone 40 minutes and come home to screeching baby. DH says while I was gone there was a massive poopsplosion that came up the front of the diaper, spit up incident, and baby wouldn't stop crying. Normally DH is pretty capable of soothing. Maybe baby heard my joke to DH when I walked out about going to the gas station for cigs and thought I was never coming back.

Okay, that made me laugh! :D

Husband’s wonderful brother, not the map my run doosh, had been laid off and was living with us when first was born. We had a meeting for like 15 minutes about baptism, and when we got back, poopsplosion diaper was lying in the back yard in the snow, and diaper was fastened with duct tape cause he kind of ripped the tape tab, but baby was happy.
 
@SCyclone , have you stopped into River Hops yet in FD? Dang their beers are SOLID!

I'm at the sushi bar and there's a guy about Boxters Age and a girl about my age next to me. She's 1000% an escort. He gave her a "gift" when she arrived and she went to the bathroom immediately to presumably check the cash. The box was gone and no mention of the gift when she came back.

About 15min in they start discussing other experiences they've had. This will be interesting.

Remember how I mentioned they were basically lowering our bonuses for my department/division? Well they finally had an open call today about our incentive plan and oh boy was that a **** show. Obviously all the questions were about the bonus cuts and they said this statement and said thank you everyone and got off the call. What a load of crap

"[Company] continually reviews its plans and policies with respect to industry, market trends, and standards. There are annual internal benchmark reviews to ensure our compensation plans remain competitive and aligned to business performance. The changes in [incentive plan name] for all roles are the outcome of that review and were approved by the [Division] LT level. With customer expectations high and our competitors moving fast, we must raise the bar on performance to remain competitive."

That’s a bit concerning that your company of all companies is cutting bonuses....

If Boxster can figure out how to close the deal a little better, he’ll be a player. I’m trying to help him learn.

So I know the thing to do now is send a thank you email after an interview, but I only have the HR persons email and not the email of the person I interviewed with.

What’s the RTT thoughts on emailing the HR person to get the person that interviewed me’s email?
