Asked my wife where she is staying in Vegas, expecting some off the strip hotel like a Courtyard, Hampton Inn, etc. Her answer: the Venetian. Ridiculous.

Just received a flush letter from a school where I knew things weren't going to work (and probably shouldn't have).

I know the last line is supposed to be some sort of kind encouraging thing, but it just sounds odd to a nitpicker like me: " We encourage you to continue to apply for additional positions that match your interests and skills set."

Well, yeah, that's kind of the job searching deal.
This was an HSBC, and they don't really do U.S. History. I didn't expect much. Prairie View and Alabama A&M should be along shortly.

Of course Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank Corporation doesn't really do U.S. History. I always thought you'd be an odd fit there. Maybe if you had a PhD in Finance.

I've never really understood that line of thinking. It's such an abuse of the position.
