The gf wantd to get Sadie a kennel for outside for when she gets a job.

Between my experiences with kennels and Sadie's separation anxiety, I dont see rhis going well. We have a crate inside for her, but apparently thats out of the question.

Hi, my name is SaraV, I'm...ummm...oldish, and I've never owned a dog. Therefore, not qualified at all to give advice.

This could definitely be just a me thing, but I've been out of school for *mumblemumble*xx*mumblemumble* amount of years. This time of year, when school supplies start showing up to be sold, I get a smidge sad that I don't get to buy any for myself. Maybe it's that I don't have kids. I'm sure carvers and birdy have a different opinion about it. ;)

I have dreaded school supplies since 1995, but this is my last year so may get a bit teary eyed while my creaky old butt is getting attacked by giant red Target shopping carts. High school seniors only need expensive stuff. I do buy myself new office supplies when they are cheap.

We do get two years in a row of really expensive back to school, first year of college. Fortunately grad money more than pays for it.

I like to get clothes, shoes, etc. on tax free weekend. I do have Kohl’s rewards I have to use by end of month though.

Well, I went and did what I said I wouldn't do. Got the cavers all fired up.

I thought you were old and experienced enough not to dip into that slough of arrogant know it all-ness.

Yeah not really a fan of that unless it is one of those really fancy ones that the Amish build where she can go in a dog house. The harsh Iowa elements can really age a dog.

Oh my God, we got seven (broken) hours of sleep last night. We had counted at dinner last night and I'd only had 8-10 total since I woke up Sunday morning. None Sunday night, like 90 minutes Monday night (after being awake about 41 straight), and then a couple hours plus hour naps the next two days. I'm so glad we got to come home. Only one person waking us up at night instead of a parade of nurses, residents, peds, inventory count people, housekeeping, food people and the photographer who I definitely snapped at that no we didn't want pictures. I get that it's all necessary but I was really pissed that two OB residents came in an hour apart to ask the same things at 4-5am when baby had a solid 4 hour sleep. I'm like y u no coordinate????!

Anyway, we both feel more human today.

Couple of years ago when I was in for four days with sepsis, they were checking me nearly hourly according to Lew. However, I was so out of it I barely noticed them the first couple of days...it was kind of like dream sequences...
Once the drugs started knocking back the infection, dang right I was annoyed at the constant care in the middle of a perfectly good sleep!

Just realized we will be out of state on tax free weekend. I never buy too many clothes because no one needs much to start the year and chances are if I buy jeans or something for fall, when it finally is cool enough they are like, “eh—I don’t like these anymore” even though they never wore them at all.

Carver you should get your kid a suit at younkers for college. I got a full like 500 dollar suit for ~180 bucks. Depending upon what they major in it will more than pay for itself in internships.

I did get him one for $125 or so there. He had a scholarship interview and his old suit was kind of high water. My kids at ISU have all done one of the bands at some point or other so will be handy for that too. This age, they all wind up with the Kenneth Cole Reaction separates cause they can get slim fit and can probably switch out with a brother if someone needs pants dry cleaned.

I think everything is like 60-80% off at this point, I'm holding out until ties are super cheap

It is a state of Iowa requirement, I need to get ours in for a vision screening. I just checked and Dentistry at Somerset is doing them free on Fridays in July. Not sure if they have any time left today, may be worth a quick call.

And check Target for clearance shoes. I got my 2nd grader a pair of tennis shoes she can wear everyday for $7.48 plus that week they had an additional 25% off clearance.

Thanks for pointing out the word "July."
We raced up there and got Z through. She had a good time and actually enjoyed herself.
Once we got home, she brushed with her new brush and toothpaste, and I taught her how to floss. She took to it quickly.

We have gone there for 10yrs, my younger girls always ask when their next appointment is. Helps when the dentist is also your neighbor—he and a few of his kids and their puppy stopped by on their walk just last night.

My aunt and uncle also had an out door 6ish foot high fenced little play area with a kennel or two in there for them when it isn't too bad. That being said we have friends who she adopted a German Shepard with separation anxiety type issues. The dog is nice but I am not a fan of it. Apparently it thrashes and just goes nuts when it's in the kennel so they have to put her in a plastic kennel (that has been chewed) inside of a larger wire kennel that is closed AND padlocks all over it to keep it from coming apart when she freaks out.

She adores the dog and he very much tolerates it.

Don't worry, SaraV. You're not alone. I'm 41 years old and I've never owned a dog either. I've had a pig, some chickens, a parrot, 4 parakeets, and a fish.

so because I was in labor so long, I was on IV fluids forever, even overnight after I got out of the OR. I remember the dr saying at one point they had given me 3700ml and that was probably 12-14 hours before they stopped fluids. I wondered where it all went and holy heck, wonder no more. I've only lost 4lbs since delivery and baby was 7lbs alone. I'm so full of fluid. And I think it's all in my legs. Yesterday and today now that I'm walking more, I legit cannot feel my ankle bones. My feet are like numb from the swelling. It's unreal.
