I basically got ****** over for my travel home from the Bay Area and had to take a red eye from Oakland to Atlanta. Might get into Dallas by 11am.

Also in regards to Houston, I'm glad you guys said what you did because that's basically what I say/agree with. People just love Houston for some reason and I don't believe they've actually been there if they defend the city

To be fair, I have family members that love it there. OTOH, they have rarely left Houston. Whenever I have visited, as a child and later as an adult, I have been eager to leave again....

A young friend (by young, I mean 30-something) posted this meme...

To which I replied:
And then there's me, now -
11pm - wanna watch a 3-hour movie? Sure!
Napping at 4.30pm? Why not!
Retirement has turned us into vampires!

Also fun fact, got to meet another one hit wonder band on my plane from Atlanta to Dallas.

The Georgia Satellites representing this classic:

Cool, but Dan Baird isn't with them any more, so for them to claim that hit is a bit like the Big Ten Network claiming Nebraska's national championships. Still cool, though.

Can You Dig It by the Friends of Distinction (1969) earwormed into my head as I stepped out of bed this morning. Now stuck there. May be related to medical sedation yesterday. Was having great dreams than they woke me up and I immediately forgot them.

I thought you were in Hudson for the 4th?

Still hard to believe Aaron Sorkin wrote this:
"Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lieutenant Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know, that Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives! You don't want the truth, because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall. You need me on that wall. We use words like "honor", "code", "loyalty". We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it! I would rather you just said "thank you", and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to!"
