I like how Dr. Grant incredulously intones: "It's a dinosaur."

Currently I'm listening to Celtic/Rain music, but recently I have been listening to Lucy Worsely's BBC historical documentaries. She lead me to a crazy series called Supersizers Go.... The two hosts spend a week dressing up and eating a certain era of food and see how it affects their health.

Some of it is funny, gross, and some interesting tidbits of historical things you don't think about and how it relates to food. I should double check on the Marie Antonette one. While her people were starving she supposedly had a mini-farm set up and would have friends over for tea 'like the commonors'

I think Lucy does some PBS stuff every now and then. I enjoy watching her talk about English royalty history.

Z asked us what the T-Rex was chasing the little girl down the hallway. We got to explain that they were trying to get people to come watch the movie because they would want to see if the girl gets away. We also had to explain that maybe she wasn't really being chased. The images were just put next to each other in the commercial. She was worried for the poor girl.

Honestly, I kind of wonder too. For those seeing it you should let me know if the T Rex is really hunting the girl specially or not. I will not watch it in the theater.

One of my best memories in a theatre is watching the OG Jurassic Park for the first time, and the scientists are in the Jeep and encounter the Bronty. You know, the part that ends with Hammond profoundly intoning "Dr. Grant; my dear Dr. Sattler. Welcome... to Jurassic Park."

The sweeping chorus of the John Williams theme, coupled with the huge thump of the creatures forelegs landing on the ground, and the cry of the creature. Man, that was too much for me. Greatest moment ever in movies, imo.

Somewhere along the way, the movies have lost the magic for me. :( Even though I enjoyed Jurassic World; it went above my expectations for sure.

My favorite line in the orig is when Jeff Goldblum mutters, "I just hate it when I'm right."

I applied for one that’s perfect. Great pay, 9-5 Mon-Fri gig in San Diego. They reviewed my app, put it under “in considration, two representatives have viewed my LinkedIn profile, haven’t heard a peep for two weeks now.

You should probably delete me as a reference. o_O

Job search update:

Something just opened in Jacksonville. Upward Bound program for grades 9-12.
Not quite me. They prefer an MA to a BA, but then this requirement appeared:

  1. Currently teaching in the Duval, Clay or Nassau County.

Good news is it looks like boxster wants you to fix his bike.

Just found out that I am being kicked off my project in 3 weeks because of budget. There was just me and another person in the role for the project. Sucks because this was for a new product and involved going around Europe and Asia talking about it.

Hate to be cynical but the other person in my role just recently joined and is dating the project manager. Budget came in and they could only choose one of us. I didn't exactly have a leg up I guess.

It really sucks extra hard because they were going to buy my hours for 6 months which would've put me in a great position for my yearly quota. Now July and August are our slowest months and I don't have a project lined up.

**** me up. I'm headed to the bar

Maybe they haven't updated their website since the college opened in 1864.

Must be, or a typo, or both.

I finally see that the Nazarene school in KC updated their schedule of courses. They hired some guy who works in the religious history of Missouri and Kansas during the Civil War.
Yes, I was checking to see who beat me out.

Did they get the win?

There's always, always the traditional blow-off without responding to me.
That's the most used and more effective move. The other one gives it away and lets me move on more easily.

*smacks hands together*. "Showed that guy."

No replies at the collegiate job level? That's just lazy and tacky.

Just the standard "received your info" e-mail. I'm seeing the same thing inside and outside the academic arena.

Shouldn't take someone more than 15 minutes to permanently prepare a form letter for all applicants, but places aren't playing that game.
Dear <NAME>:

Thank you for your interest in <JOBTITLE> at Velo University. We have narrowed down our search to finalists for the position. Unfortunately due to the high number of extremely qualified candidates your application was not selected.

Thanks for your interest in Velo University. Your application will be kept on file for one calendar year.

Cordially,

<HIRINGMGRNAME>
Velo University

That took me all of about 2 minutes, proofreading included.

If finalists are later rejected they deserve a call rather than a letter anyway...
