You would not believe how many people do this -- we've fixed a lot of walls that people have driven into. I think what happens is they think they are on the brake instead of the gas, and keep pushing the pedal harder and harder, wondering why they're not stopping.
Quite a few years ago Mrs. Velo took out my carbon fiber road bike and the front wall of our garage (also the lower level wall of the house) with the car. She was going to back out but forgot something so she slammed it from reverse to park and got out - except it was actually in drive not park. Luckily it only destroyed my front wheel and not the whole bike. The wall was pushed into the lower level about 4 inches.

I think this is also what happens on a lot of the "stuck accelerator pedal" incidents when cars are flying down the road and they can't get them to stop. I have been ingraining in my kids even though they don't drive yet to turn off the ignition, but not far enough to lock it, if you ever think you have a stuck accelerator pedal, by the way. I have heard of people who have had time to call 911 during these incidents, but it never occurred to them to shut off the ignition.

New pair of shoes in our bedroom last night. Thought they were my sons that he just bought. Looked at size and about his size. Ask when son and wife are both by me if they were sons shoes. Wife snips at me that they were hers. I asked her if she wore size 10, she said no why do I ask. Informed her that that was the size of the shoes.

Then she was upset at me because the place she bought them at didn’t check the size in the box. Am I the only one who double checks? And why is it my fault for her getting the wrong size. Actually I know the answer to the last one, only curious on the first.

What size shoe does CyRock wear? o_O

Only hadn't this happen to me once. Accelerator got stuck under the floor mat. Disengaged the clutch and popped it into neutral where it continued to rev like crazy. Figured it out before I had to shut it off and was able to hook my foot under it and pull it back. Took all of about 5 - 10 seconds, not enough time to call 911 or Facebook it LIVE.

I would get it fixed if it happens all but once! :)

Car wash minions didn't click the mat back in and it was slipping around.

Of course if I was an idiot and couldn't figure it out and crashed I could have sued Audi for "sudden acceleration" or something. "I was just driving along in 3nd gear when the car suddenly accelerated all on it own to 6500 RPM. The brakes, clutch and accelerator didn't work. I couldn't budge the manual gear shift and the key was protected by some sort of mysterious force field! I tried turning up the radio but nothing was going to stop that car! As a last resort I steered the car into a flock of Canadian geese along side the road hoping the down from their feathers would cushion the crash. But they were only decoys. Fortunately they were styrofoam decoys and protected me as I crashed into the Room and Board outlet store where I was further protected by their display mattresses. The car was undamaged and I was uninjured and want $5M cash American for my distress."

Are you driving a Snap-Tite model?

I had that happen one time to me. It was an automatic so no clutch. I turned off the engine and then figured out the accelerator was stuck in the floor mat.

DH was making lunch this morning and I walked up behind him to fake hump him (everyone does this, right?) and was blocked by the belly. It made me very sad. DH just laughed.

During all my up and down time this week I have been spending far too much time on Youtube looking at Family Guy and people failing videos. For some reason I thought of the videos from the K-State Mask and started watching some of them. I wonder how many new CFer's have never seen that tool.

The wind gusts of 20 mph have died down and it is not raining so I guess I should go get the bike out or risk @NWICY mocking me as an old lazy slob retired guy. Lost a whole week to weather, can't lose today just because of my slothness.

Got in my car to go to work this morning and got all kinds of warning messages and alarms. Service Brake System, Service ABS, Service Traction Control, Service Stabilitrak, etc. Sure enough, I could push the brake pedal to the floor without resistance. Looked under the car and there is a big puddle of brake fluid just in front of my rear axle. Upon further inspection (not that it wasn't pretty much obvious) I blew a brake line. What I can't figure out is the fact that I drove home just fine last night and hadn't driven my car since then. How does a brake line fail just sitting in the driveway? Must have happened just as I was pulling in the driveway last night or first thing this morning. I hate to think about what might have happened had it failed on the road on the way home. On another note, volleyball got cancelled for tonight because of all the rain so no update this week.

Maybe your enemies figured out how to get in your garage.
