Ever since Pants left town, things have died down quite a bit.Jeebus. Mason city news must be slow. Just had a segment about an officer pulling a peanut butter jar off a feral cat. Showed him grab the cat, pull the jar off and the cat take off.
Overheard at LifeTime in the weights area, "I need a sugar dad."

@BoxsterCy you might have enjoyed what we've been doing for the past few hours. We had a forester out here and we were traipsing through the woods talking about what management we can do to improve tree growth and better manage the populations. One part is Basswood & shagbark hickory and a couple of white oak; one part is black maple, ash, elm, a grove of Kentucky coffee trees & a few shagbark; and the far side of the creek (a south facing slope) has a couple of white oak and shagbarks. There's a couple of trees out there that he estimates to be around 80-90 years old.
We have a lot of invasive mustard & honeysuckle, and a bunch of young maples...the older trees are, well, getting old, and the younger trees can't fight past the canopy. He's helping us write up a management plan and an environmental grant to see if we can establish an oak savannah on that south-facing slope, plus do some strategic cutting, goat rental, and controlled burn to improve our woodland acres.
I had actually thought about it - but goats on the go brings in the fencing and the goats, and it's a no muss no fuss thing for about 3-5 days. We're only using them in the first section mentioned. They would decimate the young maples in the other two sections, so those will be cleared more selectively.KC, depending how long and how many goats you might need, you might want to just buy goats for the summer and then sell them off on the end. They are pretty low maintenance from what I understand about them. They sure like to climb on stuff though.
I forgot to mention - goats LOVE poison ivy. BONUS!!!I had actually thought about it - but goats on the go brings in the fencing and the goats, and it's a no muss no fuss thing for about 3-5 days. Also, we have coyotes. I don't want to have to deal with serving them up a smorgasbord over the summer.![]()
So it is mainly one girl that is one of the middle kids of four so MrsWx doesn't think she gets much attention at home. Nice girl and they play well together although she is 5-7 years older than him. In the last week she has cleaned, helped with the daycare kids and made his bed all on her own...so that was kind of weird.
Or perhaps a mixed herd. Some milk goats and some meat goats!KC, depending how long and how many goats you might need, you might want to just buy goats for the summer and then sell them off on the end. They are pretty low maintenance from what I understand about them. They sure like to climb on stuff though.
We're into hour 7. No official lunch yet...just trail mix and water smuggled in. Just looked at my schedule, and we were supposed to be here until at least 8p. We're running (ha.) about 30 minutes behind.
