So is cardio just cardio?

I’ve determined I’d much rather ride the stationary bike than run on the treadmill. Is it going to make a difference? Weight program will stay the same. Ab crunches, squats, flys, upright bench, lat extension, etc. I just really hate running and feel like this could be a good compromise.

The stationary bike burns a few less calories but it's still great cardio training.
It wouldn't be good in getting ready for a run just because of the different mechanics and all between the two activities, but you're not training for a run. It'll work great.

Was he a Tiger Woods fan?

I can't remember if it was a colonoscopy or a prostate exam but my uncle is a very strong democrat (read that as left but not lwnj left). He was getting one of them done during the big ACA debates in the late 2000s or so and elected to not get any sedation so he could spend the whole time lecturing the Dr on the cost of healthcare. His wife (a nurse) was none too pleased when she found this out and I was told it was a very quiet ride home.
They don't sedate you for a prostrate exam so it must have been a colonoscopy.

CG is going to need a stamp tattoo to mark the spot.
Had our second class last night, not as many things to report.

So I think I forgot to mention that a snack sheet was passed around last week and everyone gets to bring a snack. They said "no pressure" but of course, there is pressure so we signed up. Even though I'm thinking you know I paid for this class, you could provide the damn snacks that I don't want anyway cause I eat dinner beforehand. But alas. I figured we'd do a bag of pretzels or something. Last night's snack people brought like 80 kinds of hummus, chips, and veggies for the like, 8 couples.

We're supposed to bring next week's so now I have to actually put effort into it.

Anyway, they start with an anesthesiologist talking about pain medication options. He passes around an epidural catheter and talks about the procedure. DH asks me for my water. Doc keeps talking. DH leans over and says he doesn't feel good. Wait, what? Do you want to leave the room? "I better not get up right now". Ok, well, stop listening to the doctor and take deep breaths. Eventually, he's ok but we learned that DH will not be getting an epidural during delivery.

Then, the doc said if you wanted to come up and look at the other tools, needles, and such, we could. Most of us go up - DH stays put. I also notice that the fainting husband from last week chose to go look at the snacks then too. I was standing next to that wife so I leaned over and asked if her husband was also not a needle fan and she's like nope, last week we had to leave after the video because he felt faint. I'm like yep, mine is that way this week. We had a good laugh about it.
Someone asked if a woman has ever passed out getting an epidural and the doctor is like no, never had that happen, but we do have to watch the husbands because they'll flop right over. LOLOLOLOLOL, I elbowed DH on that one.

More chirpy cheerfulness from the instructor lady then at the end of class she mentioned someone had asked if we'd learn baby CPR in this series and she's like nope, they do offer it separately but not in this series because they don't have the time and stick to just the basics of infant care. I said to DH, I'm no expert but it seems like keeping them alive would be pretty basic.

I only used the bathroom twice this week so my score went down from last week. Maybe the new score should be how many fainting partners there are. Have to see if the streak continues next week.

Going to need to get a "stamp" tattoo to mark the sport. Always knew those lower back tats must have had some hidden purpose.

This is very true. One year right after RAGBRAI I went out for a run even though I hadn't run for a few months. I started talking to someone on the trail and ended up running a long effing way, longer than I had planned but I could because my cardio was great. However I had muscles that weren't prepared and I paid a very big price the next day.

One other thing to realize about cycling versus running is that cycling does not stress bones in the same way so you can start to lose leg and hip bone mass if you do cycling almost exclusively. While running can be hard on joints doing a little bit in your exercise regimen is important to warding off lower body bone atrophy. Even world class cyclists can experience this if they are not doing some impact training.

Referendum has been proposed in my town. It would be building a elementary school, 4k-6th, onto the high school, moving 7th and 8th into the high school, and tearing down the elementary and middle schools, which were built in the 50s. The problem with referendums in my town is all the older people, anyone who graduated in the 50s-60s, don't vote for referendums because they survived the schools so they are still good in their opinion. Elementary school has no AC, and there is asbestos in it too.

Looks like I'll be taking the rain delay on outdoor activities today. Oh well electrical problems on one vehicle and brake lines on another to work on. Electrical should be easy it's either replacing batteries or cleaning cables. Brake line problem we'll see, may outsource that one depending how hard it is to get to all the places that need getting to.

But if you've ever seen the movie Big Trouble in Little China you'd know that evil sorcerers like David Lo Pan must marry a Chinese woman with green eyes, in order to turn back into a mortal human rather than roam the earth in a ghost-like form.
