I think you two are channeling PapaLew & I. All of a sudden he's driving me all over Ames, when I was always driving myself before (since he worked elsewhere). I have my favorite routes to places. I'm getting better at biting my tongue and just not thinking about it...but sometimes he still notices my clenched fist on the armrest... ;)

Wife gets mad when I mention her nasty tailgating. Not supposed to tell her how to drive. If she knows the rote she will tell me how to drive nonstop. Will even say, Park there before I get to a spot I was going to park in. Worst is her sighs that she claims she doesn’t do. Those irritate me to no end.

So....dont get married. Thats what you are saying right?
I'm not saying that. There's nothing wrong with being married. Just realize that you will never be right again.

We were driving through a park a few weeks ago and we had this conversation

Mrs JC - Slow down. The speed limit is 15.
Me - I'm going 12.
Mrs JC - You were going around a curve.
Me - Sorry. I should have been going slower than 12. - OK. I didn't actually say that. There was no point in arguing at that point.

Oh, we're the opposite. He dawdles. AND HE FREAKING DRIVES IN THE LEFT LANE AT OR BELOW THE SPEED LIMIT. People passing on the right look over and glare at me - it's not MY fault, man!!!

Yard minions are hard at work next door stripping what little bits of sod and grass grows on my neighbor's side yard just west of me. They are going to sod, supposedly with shade tolerant grass. Thing is it is DEEP shade under his oaks and my big silver maple and the shadow of his house. Lived here like 35 years and the portion of my yard adjacent to it has gotten so shady that even the hostas and pachysandra get leggy and anemic. Ferns, yes, about anything else other than ferns, not so much. Hell, my Japaneses yews there got shaded out, cut them down this spring. This sod stuff ain't a gonna work.

When is the best time to buy flights for spring break? Prices out of central Iowa are jacked up because they know it is spring break. We are trying to take a once-in-a-lifetime trip to supposedly the happiest place on earth the same time all the college students also want to fly to Florida. We have our on site resort reservations, just did dining reservations, but at this point looking at paying for 6 of us to fly there may be cost prohibitive. I don’t think we are looking at driving as an option. Things like driving to Omaha and staying an extra day help a bit, but will prices ever go lower or are they just going to go higher?

What resort? We went about 5-6 years ago at that time. Gets spendy no matter what. Cedar Rapids can be cheaper also. We were at the Polynesian.

Have you set up alerts on GoogleFlights? I tend to do that as soon as I know I am going somewhere (pretty rare) and have time to wait to buy. As BCC pointed out CID or even MLI can save some money too.

Also since you said happiest place on earth...Oshkosh doesn't start until July.

This weather is weird, just cooled down 20+ plus degrees in 15 minutes. Looked like a tornado touched down when the front came through

The prices bounce around a lot. If you don't mind flying it, check Spirit regularly. Also, Southwest seems to lower it's prices all the time until some block or other of seats fills up. You can also check on flights to Tampa. It's not a long drive and it's really simple. Also, in Florida you can fly into one airport and out of another. Their law won't let car rental places charge for returns to different locations.
