Not exactly sure.
Was sitting at the mall near the cookie joint on saturday. This girl and guy are walking by and this girl stops and says she wants this cookie, the guy (both college kids I believe) orders that and a second one and pays. He gives one to the girl and they walk out. Is it still customary for the guy to pay? I thought everyone always went dutch nowadays and paid their own way. Always wished it was dutch back in my day, woulda saved some cash especially on a couple dates where they were complete disasters.

What is protocol now?

I was looking in the upper deck folks. Thought you were radio. Unless you are bright leggings woman with a monster hairdo, I don’t pay much attention to anyone but the wrestlers. With all the tourneys the son did, we know a huge amount of the wrestlers. I will make sure to look for the female wilt next time. Will even post the section I’m in next time.

Bright leggings/big hair lady...the word isn't "scary". Not sure what I'm looking for. Is she a fixture at state wrestling? I've only been to three.

For the uninformed...there are volunteers(?) that make sure the school wrestling cheerleaders get from their staging area in the arena seats down to the correct mat to cheer their wrestler. One such volunteer is a 55+ yo lady that wears eye-hurting bright, colorful leggings, and compensates for her thinning hair by manipulating it to stand about five inches off her head. Has to be at least a can of hairspray a day user.

Eat the cookie at home.

For a moment, I thought maybe you were both in Texas... ;)

I still always make the move to pay for both First. If she fights it and wants to pay for hers, I won’t fight it.

I still miss the “Ladies of CF” social group from the old website design.

I mean a cookie is what $2? $3 max? Who cares who pays at that point.

But this is how it goes down these days:

Waiter: One check or two?
Me: One is fine
Her: No, I can pay some
Me (to waiter): One is fine and we'll figure it out by the time you get back

Then we spend the next 3min deciding whether I am paying or we're splitting. Regardless of the decision, the next day or later that day you find out you did it wrong. You either didn't respect them enough to let them pay half or you weren't chivalrous enough to pay for it. Or my personal favorite, you didn't fight them hard enough on the issue. It's a lose-lose-lose situation.

It's much easier when you've dated someone for a little while and know roughly what each other make. So then usually whoever makes more will generally pay for things like 2/3rds of the time or whatever. You'll figure it out in time.

First few dates though? It's a ******* coin flip.

The cookie just made me think of it. I’d heard everything was 50/50 so I thought I’d ask some younger people. I wish it was 50/50 in my day.

I know. Was just thinking about a few topics we had that fit much better there than here, such as appropriate gifts, ...
You can always start a conversation with some of the other women. Performs the same function as the old groups did. I think there may be a limit to how many people in a conversation, though. :)

I think most couples do a rough 60/40 with the guy usually paying more often. Like he'll get dinner but she'll get the drinks. Or he'll buy tickets to the movie and she's got the snacks. Something like that.

Her—“Hey, I’d really like a cookie, do you have any cash on you?” Him—“Sure, I’ll get it”
Cookies are $2 and they only do CC if your purchase is over $5. I have promised a kid a cookie and then had to buy three because I didn’t have cash.

You can also go inside the ticket office on the west side and use their wifi...there were a bunch of people doing that.
We loved watching you guys - you kept US entertained. Too bad the wave kept dying. That happens when there are three empty sections next to yours... ;)
I got a real kick out of the cop riding his bike toward the end, and all the students cheering for him. Did you notice the "special" balloon in the northernmost section? PapaLew was pretty sure someone blew up a condom and they were batting it around. I couldn't really tell.
PapaLew was correct. To be honest I'm surprised it didn't happen earlier!

After going constantly Saturday and Sunday I am glad it is rainy today (although it would have been nice to get a ride in). Could have done without LittleWx waking up puking at 4AM though. No idea what caused that.

We (well MrsWx) did manage to get in trouble with her aunt again. And by trouble I mean the aunt LOVES to pick little nit picky fights with everyone. Yesterday they were hosting a bridal shower for a family member. We ended up meeting up with the bride and her mom for lunch, giving her the present and going to a family birthday party on my side in Monticello. The aunt apparently got mad because they moved the date to yesterday because MrsWx was unable to go on Saturday due to football. The catch is she was never informed of that being the reasoning.

We are apparently now going to their house for a family dinner with everyone tonight so this should be fun.

Stories like these I'm glad I have a "tiny" family on my side. One sister. One aunt. Two cousins. (Both male) That's it.

Sounds like you’re dating 19 year olds.

I certainly don’t think I’m feminist, but I try to respect their wishes. Generally it will go something like:

Waiter: one check or two
Me: One is fine
Her: no I can pay for myself
Me: it’s ok, I can get it
Her: I insist
Me: ok, but let me get the tip (or coffee afterward or whatever)

That said, I think I’ve been on a total of two dates where it’s even been an issue that I paid. Honestly, I kind of feel like that’s a sign that they’re not that really into you or the date of they’re arguing about paying.

With my last (and only) girlfriend I pretty much always paid unless it was a date she specifically planned. I had the means to do it and I was happy to. I'm old fashioned that way, but I can see how in this day and age splitting the cost would be more common and I probably wouldn't have a problem with it.
