Hey, RTT peeps - the non-con basketball games have been announced (although not the times). We will still be in Oahu for the first game after the tournament (vs Omaha). We have three corner balcony (and a parking tag). Would anyone like to use them?
@cyhiphopp because he only looks in here every now & again...

Thanks for thinking of me mom. Do you have 2 tickets available?

Heads up In-law rant,

TL/dr: Wife's side can't make decisions and are inflexible. And why I HATE the holidays.

I vented in here and deleted to save you all, but I do feel better.

I HATE THE HOLIDAYS ALREADY!!!!!!

Aw man I missed it. I anticipate this year being 10x worse than normal on dh's side whwn we say no to attending all like 3-4 of their Xmas things. That's before my side or our own. Oh well, want to start some of our own traditions and also not make multiple trips in winter with the little guy. Pull the band aid now I suppose.

We always have done our own on Christmas morning. Nothing much, but still just the five of us.

Now you need to go take a piece of white and a piece of chocolate, stack them on top of each other and say you are going to see what their marble cake tastes like.
I'm already pushing maximum density. I'm not planning on rolling out of the office.

I'd love to go KC.....provided, of course, they aren't already claimed. I see @cyhiphopp has already posted, though........

SCyclone did you happen to get an invite to the faces of ISU painting display at the Blanden? It's a little out of my usual realm of activities but it sounded kind of interesting.

Today was different. Hauled to an ethanol plant today. They have changed everything in a little over a year. They handed me this card that I had to aim at these white receptors. Then a video board would post a bunch of numbers, my license plate and name, plus who the inventory was from. Had to flash this card everywhere I went and sign my name with my finger (that always works well) about three times. Even had all new people there (I like the ladies who used to work there, they were about my age or a little younger and were nice/laughed when I did stupid stuff instead of looking at me like I'm 90)

I remember when our DD was not quite 18 months and all of us on my dad's side of the family were at his parents' house on the farm. No other grandkids. I almost cried when my grandparents wanted to give DD some little thing and tell her Santy Claus brought it to their house for her. Even then I was thinking about how confused she would be to learn that Santa Claus visited more than one location for her. My mom told me then to make decisions on what we wanted to do as a (new) family and where we wanted to be. I hated making my grandpa and grandma not be able to say what they thought was an innocent thing to a not-quite toddler. And we always made our own decisions from that point forward for holiday traditions for us. Hard to do at first, but I knew my parents would be behind us no matter what we chose. You will undoubtedly be fine, too. Just plan on ear plugs and more electronic visiting, along with band aids.

Want to do exactly that. Christmas morning just us. My mom has already been like you do whatever you want, it's your little family and don't stress about us. Other side will be less.....supportive of such an idea.

No, but I think I'll go check it out. I've been wanting to go see it since the renovation.

beyond full. they've been flooding the streets releasing water trying to get ahead of the rain coming tonight. Free overnight parking in city garages through Sunday. That's how you know it's really bad!

I drove to Milwaukee last Friday afternoon, when I got there I learned that Watertown had had 13 inches that morning. Cars swept off the roads, and all kinds of bad stuff. Hope you're in a high area!

yeah, I think this year will be the worst because we'll have to just lay down what we do. Despite the "he's too young to remember anyway so what does it matter if you do Xmas that day or a week later." Yeah but I will remember. And DH will remember. My family always has crappy Xmases because of extended family drama and my Dad feeling guilt over that and thus making our nuclear one crappy. I don't want the same.
My mom has said pretty much the exact same as yours. On spouse's side - BIL/SIL have done Santa Claus in multiple locations and been much more willing to jump through hoops to attend all events and such. Which is very well what they may want though I suspect it has to be a PITA to juggle it all and is done in at least part to avoid the guilting from the grandparents. But we want to do things a bit differently and I foresee that going over poorly. Oh well, they got to choose how to celebrate with their nuclear family for 30 years and now it's DH and my turn to do so with ours. Someday our kid(s) will do the same.

We've not had the same volume and are high enough up to be safe.

There has been a distinct advantage to living too far away to make the multiple treks at Christmas. We created our own traditions VERY early, and that carried over to when I split with my boys' father.

And I learned after the kids grew up and the grandkids started happening to be happy when they were able to visit, and to not guilt them when they went to other family units for events.
Edit: sumbeach! That other stuff was supposed to be deleted!

There is too much water up in this area, yo.

Send some down this way, bruh. :p

Although, we did get some rain today. Hopefully round 2 holds off for us to get a group employee pic in front of the store, then Pizza Ranch. #WeClassy

Ear worm wars.

Grillin' in the Rain to the tune of Singin' in the Rain just drove this out of my head:

Sweeping cobwebs from the edges of my mind
Had to get away to see what we could find
Hope the days that lie ahead
Bring us back to where they've led
Listen not to what's been said to you
