They actually started out quasi-normal:

But then:

I thought you were talking about Texas Prom Moms (Mums). I thought teenagers were having to ask their dates mom's if they could take the daughter to prom or something. I was confused.
Mums = Chrysanthemums (originally)

Is this young KC?

Nope - but it COULD have been my oldest cousins.

I had a summons for jury duty once, quite a few years back -- had a juror number of, like 16. I was supposed to call a phone number to find out what was what. The automated voice said, "If your number is greater than 13, consider your jury duty completed." Nice.

Then a few years ago -- must've been the 2012 election cycle, because my middle daughter turned 18 in Feb and registered to vote -- she got summoned in March. She was still in HS so she got out of it. That summer, she got another, and was picked. She thought it was a gas!

I got called for jury duty for Hennepin County. It was a two week (plus) commitment. I had to physically go in for eight hours a day for the first week. I went through voir dire on one trial but wasn't selected. I went through voir dire for a second trial and sat on the jury. We heard about an hour of testimony in a personal injury car accident case and the attorney of the defendant asked the plaintiff if she was wearing her seatbelt during the accident when suddenly the plaintiff's attorney asked to approach. The attorneys and judge conferred and then we were abruptly dismissed. We hung around outside the courtroom door for about five minutes seeing if anyone could figure out what had happened. Suddenly the judge came out and shared with us something like that in Minnesota it is a law that whether a person is wearing a seatbelt or not is immaterial in a case and by asking the question the attorney had potentially tainted the jury so we were all dismissed. I went back to reading books for the rest of the week. The next week we just had to call in before the day started to see if we were needed and I ended up not having to go back again. I did manage to get several books read, however.
