Dumb question for you. Is it more difficult to cut trees in winter? With all the water in them, do the kinda freeze or get hard? Have some stuff that needs to get knocked down but would like to wait and drop later. Never did it during winter before.
Nope. Just a little harder to clean up when there is snow. Trees adapt to changing temperatures and actually keep themselves warm by transferring water out of cells. When the water between cells freezes, it releases heat. If the water in the cells freezes, it'll kill the tree. So trees can freeze, but it would have to go from warm like right now, to sustained below zero temps, but as long as there are no cracks or large exposed spots where water can get in, they'll be fine. When it snows, look around the base of a tree and you'll notice that the snow has melted more quickly around it.

Also, woodchips make a great insulator. Always should put chips/mulch around trees especially young ones to help keep them warm. We've moved piles of chips in the winter, and in the middle they are warm. Never tested it, but you also could probably keep some snow through the summer, if you buried it under enough chips.

Use sharp chains and a properly powered saw and you'll never know the difference.

Come on Chaser you know why this happens!

Not exactly sure.
It is a dark and gloomy morning here. I pretty much judge days on the how dark they are. House has ton-o-windows and if I have to turn lights on the kitchen/great room then the day is not starting out well.
You stop going outside? Hibernating for the winter? This morning is nice though. Took the coat off.

Is there a new one just for the bowl game?
No, it's basketball. For tonight's game. Cool presentation video, but I'm just not a fan of the anthracite uniforms. I'd rather see them stand out in cardinal. But some d-bag seems to think I should just shut up because I prefer our actual team colors.

Oh, it's still warm at 53, just poopie, gloomy, dark, icky, gray and depressing. Should take advantage of the lull and test fire the snow chuckers. Might need them later this winter. Easier to **** around with them when it's 50 and not 5 degrees or something.

Speaking of the bowl game, I guess I should look into going. Our new idiot client scheduled a DR test starting January 2nd and we have a project on Dec 31. I'm not on that one and they did a dry run last night without bothering me so I guess I should be safe for Dec 31. I would still need to get back before late January 1 so If I went to Memphis NYE on Beale street would be off the table.

First, I had to google anthracite. Second, why are we making a uniform out of coal? Seems messy.

Updating some slides for a program meeting and my PM is a West Point grad. Rolling the dice and put BEAT ARMY! On my issues/tasks for the week...May be on a new program before the day is over.

Uniforms is serious bidness. Maybe T-Noah will start 35 pages with the exact same mock up every third post yet then add commentary on all the subtle changes.

We had our neighborhood progressive Christmas party on Friday. The weekend before, we ran into the couple that hosted the first part of the party at a restaurant named Pour. The husband is a pastor. As we walked in to the party, the wife came up and mentioned how much they liked the restaurant. My wife misunderstood what she said and responded, "You really like porn?"

Don't talk to crazy people, KC, you should know that by now. I feel CF should sponsor a Project Runway type show just for the uniform nuts.
