so in regards to my spellcheck resume person, so I had someone we really liked for the role. I left on travel after their stellar interview and since I wasn't doing the hiring, someone else was supposed to put out the offer - and quickly. They ended up dragging their feet and person took another offer. Just great. They schedule more interviews, including with people who I would never look at and ignored my schedule. FYI, this is for my old position and I'd be doing the training - but not managing them. I had posed the question about a month ago that I should manage them. Was told no for now at that time.

So then we went back to first person and offered anyway. They debated taking it and in the meantime it was determined that it made more sense for me to manage them if I was ok with that. Partially because of the bungling of the good person, partially because it just made sense (like I tried to say previously) I said yes. Good person stuck with original offer mostly out of integrity. They're young and will probably eventually learn that loyalty to a company gets you ****.

But anyway, now I'm the hiring manager on this role with people scheduled I don't want and lost the one I did want because of someone else. And there's no one nearly as good in the resume stack I have. I suppose this is what management is. Cleaning up messes I didn't cause and getting to deal with other people's mistakes.

oh and btw, I found yet another spelling error when going back over that particular resume.

yeah, I've been sitting on this for a week now just hoping good person would do what's best for them and take our offer. Got the text from my boss (who had jump in to do the late recruiting) that they officially turned it down today. Like, they literally said they like our position better but felt they needed to honor first offer. Like kid, don't do that. Don't do that for them, us, or any other company. Do what is best for you. The other company was big enough that if they came back in 1-2 years wanting to work there, the hiring manager they backed out on would likely not even be there or remember them.

Yes, watching volleyball stats now.

So my computer has a virus, and it managed to wipe all the contacts out of my e-mail AND my cell phone. Good grief, I must have had hundreds of cell phone numbers in there.....how in he!! am I gonna get them all back?

If you've kept it updated thru your service provider they should be able to reload them for you. I know Verizon has this, only thing is it's only as accurate as the last time you backed your phone up.

Semi-related to CG's issue just finished training new person for a job, I think they'll do ok but I think their commute time is going to keep them from staying at the job very long. Hopefully I'm wrong but time will tell.

Watched on Cyclone.TV. Something clicked half way into the 2nd set when they were down and after that they just rocked the next 1 1/2 sets. Grace had a huge match.

What channel(s) has it come up on? I haven't seen it in years.

RetroPlex. The movie after Strangelove was Catch-22. Others stuff on it today, Sands of Iwo Jima, Halls of Montezuma, They Live, Marathon Man etc. Comes with my over priced Comcast array. Owned by Starz but I don't subscribe to Starz but get it and the other Stazz replay channel, Encore.

The oldest and hubby went last night. Only made it to the ISU game, would have been fun to watch WI before our game tonight. Unfortunately my parents are using their tickets tonight and we have a holiday thing, so we won't get to go. A little disappointed that my ball helper didn't want to sign up for NCAA's. She could have even left school early yesterday to make the first match. She says she doesn't like mopping and she didn't want to be on TV. I told her she was on TV anytime she game helped. "Yeah, that is just cyclone TV"

AllllllRIGHT - Saddle up!
I'm here to kick ass and chew bubble gum, and I'm all out of bubble gum.
I'm not going to that dentist though...

Halls is a marine WWII movie. You'll recognize some of the cast: Richard Widmark, Richard Boone, Jack Webb, Martin Milner, Neville Brand, Jack Palance, Robert Wagner and Karl Malden...lots of TV guys.
