Random Thoughts XI (Eleven Pipers Piping)

I don't think I could handle working for a toxic avenger at my age. Hell, I couldn't handle it when I was 20-something. The only job I have ever quit was my first design office job here in the Twin Cities. Working for this guy was eating me up and keeping me awake at night. Just walked in one day and quit. Ended up carpentering for a year or two before landing the job I ended up retiring from. Even carpentering outside in the Minnesota winter for less money was better than working for the asshat I had been working for.

If I was in that situation again I'd again just quit but now I'd go to work for Pants. Tax Boxster would rock those Schedule A's.

That Corps job ended up being a perfect fit for me after a few years and I kinda wonder what would have happened to me if I had not landed that gig. Guessing remodeling man or back to Iowa (shudders) and running an oil business.
I fully planned to work until 65 or farther because I truly enjoyed my job. I thought I could outlast this boss (the original contract the boss had was for 5 years). When they extended that contract and effectively gave a promotion (off the backs of me and my peers in the unit) it only got worse. I still thought I could stick it out to 65 but after the health scare late last spring we pretty much said **** it, we're outta here (to both our jobs). I'm ALREADY more relaxed. :)

My parents are both in similar situations. My mom works at a school with terrible administration and constantly complains and could make as much as she does now by retiring but won't because of insurance. Dad has heart disease and she is heading for a shoulder replacement. They are basically just working to get to medicare at this point.
Yeah - that's where we were at. We're shelling out for health insurance now, for two years. They might check to see what (if any) extended coverage is allowed on their current plan(s) if they are employer-sponsored, and talk with a financial planner to see what would be financially feasible. At some point you're making your health worse if you're in a toxic environment. Either way, my sympathies - because PapaLew & I know EXACTLY how they feel.

We are supposed to take over remote management of a client in Dec

I wouldn't have a clue what to put in a cover letter or resume in today's world. I really should look into that as this job is going to kill me.
My son was talking about interviewing this past weekend, and I realized I have not been on the application end of an interview in so long, I wouldn't know how to present myself! Don't think it matters anymore anyway. :D

I have not brought up that topic but I know they are in contact with their financial planner person and have met with IPERS several times for my mom.

I smelled something funny in my car on the way to work this morning. I get to work and look in the backseat. One of my daughter's soccer socks is rolled up in a disgusting ball under the passenger seat in the back.
Every once in a while, there will be a horrible smell in my son's room. From experience, we've learned to just look for sweaty socks in some unseen location.

With the way you've kept yourself in pretty good shape, you could have done that modeling gig for years.

I don't even want them to get an interview.
I don't know if hiring somebody with bad grammar without even giving them an interview is a good idea.jimlad.png

When hiring, if I've had trouble narrowing down the candidates, I've looked super closely at resumes and cover letters to see if there is grammatical/organizational errors just to narrow the field a bit.

I just want to know if the bat is named Lucille?
This is my, personal, favorite use of a baseball bat in a movie.

Relaxed? With some practice you get it down to a science. I'm still my pajamas and drinking coffee. Going to head outside and prep for erection of the annual winter anti-rabbit Maginot Line. Maybe wash some windows. Rewash actually, the ones I did the other day look a bit streaky.
