I gave up my judicial powers when I got married--kind of like Superman giving up his powers for Lois.
But Superman got his powers back somehow, probably through illegal medications. Can't you do the same?

It's not like you're going to get in trouble for it. If there's one thing I learned from And Justice For All, it's that lawyers only get in trouble for contempt of court and you only have to go sit on the courthouse steps for a little while for that punishment.

Sorry, @Bu4ISU , I've contracted the Plague. I'm pretty close to Boxster-level ded right now, but I'll get to it eventually.

Oh, no, not the dreaded "flague!"

Okay, more weird word association from Boxster (I got a million of em). My confirmation class was getting asked a bunch of softball questions in front the congregation when the guy sitting next to me froze and was stymied by a pretty simple question. I did my best cheater thing and quietly whispered to him "plagues" and his answer to the minister and congregation was "flagues"

No. I don't think I'll be appointed to any benches again. I came up on the mean streets of Iowa's Xth Judicial District, which is where I donned a robe and swang a gavel part-time (just a Judicial Magistrate at that point--not trying to humble brag). I had to resign when I moved to an undisclosed location in Iowa's Yth Judicial District after getting married. Had I stayed in the Xth I had connections, etc. In the Yth, I'm just Clark Kent without any powers.

Somewhat obscure reference for Velo's appreciation-- "I will diminish and go into the West".

Full disclosure, I have time traveled forward a little bit. It's 1968 now. At Goodman's A&W drive-in in Ben's Rambler. We were not cool. Ramblers were not cool.

The maternal death rate is still usually over 275,000 worldwide per year, with the US having the highest rate in the developed world and a rate that continues to rise.

Not sure if they keep moldy/spicy colon death rate statistics.

Seems like chance of free stuff either way.
If the confederacy had won the civil war and there was a USA and CSA, I bet the USA would currently have a really good maternal death rate. Probably right up there with Switzerland (I'm assuming they're near the top cause they always are in this kind of stuff). If we could just lop of the deep south, with their giant rats and alligators and snakes and swamp monsters, we'd perform a lot better in these surveys.

Don't forget those disease-carrying mosquitoes. I'm pretty sure I have yellow fever. Or West Nile Virus. Maybe key lyme disease...oh wait, that's ticks. Well, I accidentally scratched a tick body off my upper arm...the head is still in there.

Am I ded yet?

There are quite a few law books in boxes in the basement and in the garage, as well as in the library, Woo.
Thanks, but I have way too many of my own already.

Also, Pants, I'm pretty on the 24th you can just go take the stuff of the people talking about the rapture. Because if they've been raptured they don't need it, and if they haven't, well it's a post-apocalyptic hellscape so taking it is fine

No. I don't think I'll be appointed to any benches again. I came up on the mean streets of Iowa's 3rd Judicial District, which is where I donned a robe and swang a gavel part-time (just a Judicial Magistrate at that point--not trying to humble brag). I had to resign when I moved to an undisclosed location in Iowa's 4th Judicial District after getting married. Had I stayed in the 3rd I had connections, etc. In the 4th, I'm just Clark Kent without any powers.

I'm just assuming you live in Counciltucky now. Since there's about a 90% chance you have a mullet you might be Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer.

Woo, isn't most legal research online any more?

I don't think people are still buying code books and putting little stickers in them to alert them to look at the acts that have been passed since publication.

Pretty sure if anybody here has key lyme disease, it's Boxster. You might have malaria. A gin and tonic usually takes care of that.

I've got dibs on KC's basketball tix. We already have 3 too many cats so I don't want any of them.
