Y'all wait until your little darlings have to do "research" for their first little project, and don't understand why they can't just cut and paste wikipedia. And then why they just can't rewrite it. And then struggle with what constitutes their own thinking and original ideas.

In my age group, I fall in the gap where I didn't always have technology/smart phones and had to actually go outside to play/use my imagination, etc. I did have a phone in high school, but it was just to let my parents know I was okay if I went out with friends.
Anyway, if I go out with my friends, or if I am on a date, I try to leave my phone in my purse or at the very least turned upside down on the table. I am not going to use my free-time to stare at someone else while they text and I don't expect someone to do the same for me.

It's not that I'm resistant to technology and change, just wondering if we will raise a generation of kids who don't have face to face relationship skills. For many, cell phones are like a security blanket - I mean, I wouldn't dream of taking my phone into a stadium, or a theater. And yet I go to those places and there are lots of folks who do. Addiction can take many forms.

It's only going to get worse here soon on RTT. With your wife due soon we can look forward to yet another round of the RTT gals talking baby birthin' and mocking us guys as pain and comfort amateurs.
Last year my oldest had a "squad" that was boys and girls who would go do things as a group. Being 13, everyone was dependent on parents for rides. One night they all went to DQ and put phones on silent, so they could actually interact. One mom showed up about an hour later because her son wouldn't respond to her texts of when she should come get him. Even if they are in a group of all girls, ours will put her phone away for the most part.
Too late the Smith-Corona went into the estate sale along with it's older brother, the Woodstock.
When did putting ice in drinks become a thing? Isn't it pretty much an American thing? Doesn't Europe still usually drink things without ice?
I sometimes marvel at how we got about in pre-interent days. You had to find out about a concert via the newspaper or radio ads. If it was in a different city you had to have someone that knew the city or stop at a phone booth and hope someone hadn't pulled the map out of the phone book. You had to be able to read a map but most maps didn't have the details for a city. Today most people are lost without their GPS telling them where to go.
I know when I got water in Italy it was a chilled bottle and a glass. No ice in the glass. I have only drank bottled or draft beer when overseas so I have no idea how they did mixed drinks. Next RTTer that goes overseas needs to do some research. Lots and lots of research
They say Seinfeld would have never been a show if cell phones were widespread back then.
So for that reason alone, I wish they where widespread back then so I wouldn't have to constantly hear people talk about how great Seinfeld is.
Okay, cannot remembers something and it is driving me crazy. Maybe 25-30 years ago we used to call some beer up here in Minnesota "Green Death" and cannot for the life of me remember the brand. What is the one you are referring to? No likely to be the same as you are a young pup but have to ask.
Damn, even called a buddy and asked him and he couldn't remember either. He did remember calling me one morning and asking how I felt as he was hungover. Replied "Yup" and we both concluded that the keg at Karen's party had to have been "Green Death". It's going to drive me crazy till I remember. Google isn't helping.

Man, do times ever change. When I used to date I never stared at phones while on dates. I used to stare at cleavage.
They probably don't use ice in Europe. They mostly live in castles or mud huts and they're too busy fighting dragons all the time too worry about things like the temperature of their drinks.
