Random Thoughts XI (Eleven Pipers Piping)

Critics spoke pretty highly of the film, I haven't seen it yet but would like to. LMK what you thought of it......reminded me of a time when my younger sister brought her black BF home from college, against my Mom's advice. Dad was very cool toward him, until the next morning when he (Dad) was out working in the yard and the guy came out and asked if he could help. By supper time the two of them were having a beer and laughing together.

It's not my normal genre, but I thought it was pretty good. I'm sure others on here could give you a better idea if it stacks up well in comparison to others. They recreated a lot of awkward racial encounters pretty spot-on, albeit a little on the cliche-ish side. There were a few good twists throughout, and it makes you realize the hints that were laid out for you as you look back at it.

It was more of a suspense movie than a horror, IMO.

Happy belated B-day, KC. Sorry I let your real name and true age slip in the photo.

Year is a little bit off, but Lynn (without the e) is my middle name. I actually tried to get people to use that for a while when we moved to Florida because I hated my first name so much. It never caught on, though.

Monday morning funny. :D

Went out to head to farm and get something done. Slid through first stop sign. Went around a couple blocks and parked it. No way I’m putting something bigger and more dangerous out on these roads.

I know you can choose to not look at the threads, but I sorta wish any thread title that contained the word "Hoiberg" went to a forum that I could opt out of.

Our varsity coach used to wear like orange suits and some other crazy stuff. Has a shaved head and is cross eyed to boot. I can't talk to him much because I always try to look people in the eyes and I can't do cross eyed.
Stop me if you've heard this one.

My first full time job out of college I worked with a very small team. It was so small that our management meetings were in my boss's office with him at his desk and the rest of us in chairs in a half circle around him. It is my very first meeting since taking the job so I was nervous to begin with. First thing he asks a question and there is an awkward pause while we wait for the idiot he asked to answer. After a few seconds I realize that the idiot is me even though the eye I am looking at isn't looking at me. Turns out he is blind in one eye and that eye doesn't track like the other one. I no more than pick myself up from crashing into this hurdle and he asks me a question about a "turr". I have absolutely no idea what a "turr" is. Finally I figure out that he is talking about a "tour" and he just pronounces it differently.

After this meeting I was ready to go back to my office and start packing it up.

I looked at the road report and saw the roads were icy up by you. Good move!

I think your first name is awesome.
I accept it more now, but when I was a kid it was primarily a boy's name. If people saw it without seeing me they assumed I was a boy. If they saw me & heard my name, they spelled it wrong. It was tough for a shy preteen...

I calculated it once - there are 26 variations of the spelling of my name. :D

When I use my full name, it's a name that has been well used with African Americans. Any time that I had to head up to MSP or larger cities for work or anybody came down to my work site for the first time, you would laugh with the stunned looks on their faces when they saw this white guy standing infront of them.

Had one guy who I was doing a project for and chatted to me like I was his long lost brother, he showed up one day while I was out for a little, was just excited as all get out to meet me everyone said. I walked in, he said, "you're BC?. I just have to see the start of the project". I said i can show you around, he mentions he's good to go and just leaves.

We recently had a discussion similar to this. We were talking to a friend named Alisa and decided that the spelling of the name really needed to be standardized. There's less than 10 different ways to spell Alyssa.
