Went to that in theater. One of kids is dating girl who somehow knows nothing about WW II. Recommended that in addition to Schindler’s List, The Darkest Hour, Dunkirk, and some of the older movies. She wants to be a teacher, maybe at some point read a history book.
Family dinners when I was a child consisted of my father quizzing my sisters & I on history (US and world), literature, and geography. I learned more from him than I did from my history classes in high school (with the exception of my American Gov class, which was taught by a really amazing guy). I absorbed a lot from books by Cornelius Ryan and others as well. I shared my love of WWII movies with my boys, and one son was totally hooked - he took every history class offered at his high school, and minored in it at UNI. Now he's passing his love on to his girls.
I feel sorry for people who have no knowledge of our past. I hope she takes your recommendations! Consider "A Bridge Too Far", "Tuskegee Airmen", and "Memphis Belle", also.

I always feel the war in the Pacific gets little atttention and that’s where my dad fought, so when old enough, my kids get The Thin Red Line, Empire of the Sun, Bridge on the River Kwai, Letters from Iwo Jima, etc.

If you stay in the SE Mn./NE Ia area you might be ok I'm going to try to move up some appointments today and get them done, earlier I thought it was going to be a flat out cancel.

If you want to spend a couple of hours watching a truly gut-wrenching movie, rent "The Zookeeper's Wife". Pretty heavy stuff, but very well done.

Been there. Done that one. Pretty good.

Just couldn't place the creepy German. Had to look him up. He was the creepy German sniper in Inglorious Basterds.

Midway is a favorite of ours. Kind of melodramatic in places, but still a pretty good chronicle of the decimation of the Japanese carrier fleet. Bonus - spot a very young Eric Estrada as one of the flyers (Ponch from CHIPS). Also, one about the women caught up in the Japanese interment camps "Paradise Road". Stars Glen Close.

There are also the two HBO miniseries: "Band of Brothers" and "The Pacific".

I watched that a couple of weeks ago, where they hide the Jews in the zoo, good flick. Their life would have been easier if their little boy could keep quiet. .

Critics' Choice awards hosted by Olivia Munn (Uber-annoying ex of Aaron Rodgers....I think I might side with Aaron's family after learning that). Hawkeye Basketball at Illinois. Literally--and I mean literally--the same ****. Not even worth mocking.....the same crap and lame jokes and tired references. I can only hope for a Fran Blow-up.

Kevin Spacey did not make it. I think ceremony is being held in a junior high gym. Bradley Whitford sighting! Nick Jonas......Does Nick Jonas understand that everytime a normal person sees him, they hate him more?
handmaids' tale winner....hey, no political reference. Thanks for that.

32-15 Illinois over Iowa. Lord, they are bad. We are approaching Licklighter level.

If they don't win tonight, which is unlikely now, or their next game (Rutgers), they have a real chance to run the table.

Iowa has 9 more wins than many asian ethnic groups have in any of the Hollywood award shows thus far this season.

You forgot to recommend Hogan's Heroes.

Or Animal House

I used to think that about Joe Jonas but now he's in that DNCE band and they're not very talented but they do have a couple catchy songs.
