Been a roller coaster weekend sadly with mostly downs as I disappointed my parents and sister once again. Apparently my mom is very mad and sad because we aren't letting anyone in to the delivery room and want LittleWx to be the first one to see him and then our parents. And they wonder why we say we aren't tied down to staying here for the rest of our lives...
Your mother and sister should respect YOUR choices, because it is YOUR family. If you & MrsWX want the room to yourselves and littleWX in there first, that's all there is to it.

Harking back to my own time in the delivery room - I most definitely didn't want ANYone else but the staff and the father in there. Your mom needs to learn they are not the important ones here...they can wait.

This is well after the fact because our internet crashed for a couple of hours :mad::mad::mad::mad:
At least it's back up so I can watch GoT before I go to bed!

Key lime pie , wine and the underrated Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. Good way to follow up Game of Thrones on a Sunday night. Got your crazy eyed Alexandra Daddario*, the mad taxi sisters, zombie Confederate sailors, cyclops's, Capt. Mal as Hermes...what's not to like!

* Those eyes, man, those eyes.

So Helena Bonham Carter: attractive or no?

Would. The fact she seems to be a really weird freakazoid in real life just makes it better. CWW.

Helena Bonham Carter, not my favorite actress but I really liked her in Les Miserables. And yeah hot enough for me, and agree with Boxster she seems that the cray may be strong with her.

@wxman1, this is what has worked for us. Didn't hear any complaints, although my in-laws, they are always complaining. Not saying it works for everyone:

1. Birth. Just father and medical staff in delivery room. No one in waiting room because we didn't tell anyone we were in labor except . . .

2. My brother and sister-in-law watched older kids when subsequent kids born. They then brought siblings to meet the new one first. They were closer than my parents so would get to the hospital first. We called our parents shortly after delivery, the in-laws mercifully live a long ways away. My parents usually showed up about an hour after we called. His would come for baptism and then stay about a week until I was in tears constantly from the never-ending criticism. My siblings usually all came to see the new baby in the hospital but were never there during labor.

3. My adult sons call every Sunday night. They talk to both parents. Sometimes we Skype. Sometimes they have a conflict and will call on Sat. or Mon. None of them are married. They started this in college and it works. Sometimes like now they talk to Dad more because all excited about the eclipse. Sometimes they talk to me more because I am more helpful on things like student financial aid, I do the FAFSA, I can give them cooking advice, etc.

Survived just under 12hrs at the fair. Saw everything we wanted to see, did not eat all the foods I wanted but you gotta sacrifice some things. My vices are sweets, so I consumed mostly sugar. Made it until 6pm without the stroller, then used it for the last couple of hours.

Babies--no one was ever at the hospital until after a baby was present. For our first we had no visitors in the hospital, both sets of parents met baby about 5 days later when we traveled to Iowa. Second my mom helped babysit the oldest, the in laws came once we found out she had medical issues. Third was a scheduled induction which happened to coincide with the oldest's First Communion so family was in town for that. Fourth my mom was here again to babysit, the in laws met her in May when they came for other kids' birthdays (baby was born March 1st).

^Birdy, we lasted about 10 hours. That's pretty impressive with the little one making it that long stroller free. All I ate the whole time there was a tenderloin, there is just something about the smell and other things, I just am not hungry there. Husband on the other hand, seemed like he was on a personal mission to try all the new foods and I felt sick just watching him. About ten minutes into the drive home, he complained that I didn't stop him.

Wxman, looks like the consensus of the mothers here is no way in hell is anyone else in the birthing room so tell your family it's freaking weird. Maybe ask your mother if she could imagine her mother-in-law seeing all her bits during some of her worst painful moments. It's not like they had to be there for the conception.

Looks like a humble brag about upcoming rainfall events. ;)

Proof that we have had enough rain, toadstools growing on my porch this morning. o_O Fence posts crew dug post holes on Thursday for my new fence....had to shopvac the water that filled two of them out before they poured the concrete.

Statistically not abnormal amount for the year, just seems to thunderstorm every couple of days. Tempatures this summer are way below normal. The new norm seems to be warm wet springs, cool summers, warm wet falls and warmer winters. Weird.

Our rain situation yesterday.

Me: I'm going out to water the garden.

Husband: I just pulled up the radar, it says there is rain coming our way.

Me: Right, I'm going out to water the garden.

While watering the garden in the sunshine, about three sprinkles landed on my glasses.

Me: It sprinkled like three drops on my glasses in the sunshine.

Husband: Told you it was going to rain.

Me: Dumbass,

We got a teaser sprinkling in the morning and again in the afternoon yesterday. This morning I woke up early to an extremely enthusiastic thunderboomer that scared the living crap out of the cats. Three under the bed, three under the covers...

Couple of the strikes were pretty close but I didn't have time to check the trees downhill (too dark still). Nothing down out front. There was about 1.5 inches in the dog bowl out on the back deck.
