So last night was biblical proportions, flooding in KC this morning.

That footage of that car being swept away down by Indian Creek was pretty crazy. That water rescue down on 103rd and Wornall was interesting to watch live. The lady's weight must have been just enough to keep the car one the ground since once they got her out, the car started floating around.

The waterfall coming out of the Chinese restaurant was also something I hadn't seen before.

so last night I came home to find a ******* hawk just finishing up murdering the three baby robins about to leave the nest that I had been watching grow the past few weeks. I was ******* pissed. Went running at it but too late to do anything. Very angry CG. Was looking forward to showing them to nieces.

in other news, had a dream last night we went grocery shopping for this weekend and Dh decided it would be a good idea to steal the groceries. It beeped when we went to leave (for some reason, I didn't arrive til he was going out the door) and then a bunch of people went through the cart and were basically going to ban us from the store. I was pissed at DH.

There's this sleazy ass Hawkeye fan in my office that doesn't understand the concept of deodorant. At one point he decided he needed an office. He's been in there with the door shut. I just walked by after he opened the door and almost started gagging.

If it's just him in the office, just put a stick of deodorant on his desk some time when he's not there. You avoid the uncomfortable confrontation and he should get the hint.
Early this morning one of the facilities guys opened this guy's office and was spraying some sort of Fabreeze/Air Freshener type stuff on the carpet in that office to try to clear out the BO. Someone must have said something LOL

When you woke up, did you at least get mad at DH for what he did in your dream? According to my wife, that's perfectly reasonable and not at all bat-**** crazy.

The old classic "I didn't arrive until the end of the crime" excuse. Solid.

Have some of ours! Major flooding in our area. Parents got 5 last Wed, 9 more Friday. Several bridges gone. More rain today it appears.

Never seems to even out. It always goes north and south of us. Counting yesterday's spritzing, we have had one quarter of an inch in our rain gauge so far for the entire month of July with a ton of heat. Grass is brown, even weeds are croaking. Dumbass neighbor still shooting off fireworks, fearing grass fire. Garden is good, but makes the water bill high. The bees just swarm around the garden when I go out to water for a drink. Rabbits are getting so desperate, they come right up on the front porch to get water from the dog bowl.

In my entire life, I have never paid to watch a baseball game. However, we did get company tickets to an Oakland A's game back in the early 80's. Bored off my ass.

I did watch a bunch of games one summer when my boys decided to try intramural baseball. They didn't look alike and personalities are light years apart, and we had a very common last name. The coaches basically did a schoolyard pick for the teams and they ended up on two different teams...which meant I was watching baseball four afternoons a week. AACKKK!!! One of the coaches finally noticed I was there every night & asked why and I told him about my boys being on different teams. The coaches didn't even realize they were brothers. They offered to switch one so both were on the same team, and I was all "Oh, no way...they would hate that!". They get along great now, but at 19 months (and one grade) apart, they were oil & water as teenagers.

It's been so hot and dry in Omaha the last month or so. Yesterday we actually got rain but we have had the same issue. Rain north and south of us.

Yep. The only one I've heard more often is "it wasn't mine".

Sort of related...in my time as a prosecutor I probably read several hundred police reports regarding OWI investigations. I would guess more than 95% of the people pulled over answered that they "had a couple". I wanted to reward the one guy who said he'd had 14 or 15 for his his honesty, but couldn't due to his horrible choices.

I had a plagiarist who copied the blurb paragraph from an Amazon page for a different book by the same author she was supposed to be reviewing. She added one word to one sentence of that blurb.

When we talked about it, I showed her both of them. She said they didn't look that similar. It was all I could do not to laugh unprofessionally, so I had to resort to a grin and just asked "Can you show me the difference?"

She said it would just be easier to say that she did it. Sadly, that was the second time I'd caught her. People just don't like to own up to things they're caught red-handed at.
