Just made a mad 15 yd dash barefoot to my car to get the windows rolled up due to a "freak" rain cloud. Now my feet itch/hurt.

I'm fairing better than the people trying to get the top on their Jeep Wrangler, though.

Vacation had a good run. Back to work tomorrow and it is going to be a very busy day. One of my PMs sent me a meeting invite to catch up with him for 7:30 tomorrow morning. He sent it at 5PM on Friday. Good thing I have everything on my phone...

Daughter got her ears pierced Friday, had two friends sleep over Friday night, went to the Royals game on Saturday and saw Wonder Woman today.

She's got it rough.

BTW, Wonder Woman was pretty decent, but not great. They did some really good things in the movie, but the plot felt a little patchwork at times.

That being said, Gal Gardot could read a dictionary and would be hot doing it.

Feed them a bunch of ding dongs and mountain dew. Take them to the park and run them hard. They will crash when you all get back.

Not even here yet. They are driving from Montana and eta keeps moving later. Niece is super mom, all day in the car with the boys, baby and yappy dog. Worthless uncle was going to Amtrak out and help drive but was too sick for that.

Channeling my inner wxman1 while waiting and watching "The Truth About Twisters" on the weather channel.

Our varsity girls softball team finally picked up a win this weekend. Our conference is tough and loaded with senior-heavy teams. We start 3 8th graders. We can usually hang with teams for 3 innings, then the wheels fall off. Game we won this weekend was non-conference, we used an 8th grade battery.

There are a couple local photographers who take pictures at games. She was warming up her pitcher and saw the guy taking pictures, so she tried to look "extra" cool.

She goes out to DC for the 8th grade trip tomorrow. Had looked at the weather yesterday and was just cool with no rain. Now it is 40% chance of rain on 2 of their 3 days there. :(

MrsWx and I want to get back to DC. We went a few years ago with my parents and it was cool but not a lot of down time and our time on the mall was get off Metro near the Washington Monument in Alexandria, start at Washington walk all the way to the capitol go through one museum, tour capitol, meet Grassley (before he went off his rocker), see the declaration of Independence and walk to a metro station. That's a lot of walking on a hot June day on the mall. Somehow we didn't even stop at either Air and Space Museum. Really enjoyed Mt Vernon though. I am one to try different things and it bit me at Mt Vernon when I tried peanut soup. That was essientially warmed up chunky peanut butter. Disgusting.

They have a packed itinerary. Doesn't help that they will get to their hotel about midnight tomorrow night and then breakfast Wednesday at 7am then off to the National Cathedral to start their day. I think Wednesday is when they get to hit some of the museums. Thursday they do a river cruise to Mt. Vernon. Friday is a lot of the memorials, end their day at Arlington and 4 kids get to do wreath ceremony. They go straight to the airport from there late afternoon. Teachers who have worn fitbits say days average between 4-8miles of walking.

That seems a lot for sleep shorted kids. There's no way they fall asleep before 1ish that first night. I hope it's a lot of fun!

There's an Albert Einstein statue just to the northeast of the Lincoln Memorial that is a great place for pictures. It's just outside of the National Academy of Sciences building. It's a little obscure but is a really cool thing to see if your daughter is near it.

A friend that just returned from chaperoning a field trip said he was getting 22-27k steps per day and they were taking the bus from place to place.

When visiting DC, I'll guarantee you that I will be sobbing openly every time that I leave the Lincoln Memorial. It is absolutely my favorite thing in DC.

That sounds like a dish that made up out of necessity and lack of other ingredients. I envision a poor family sitting around starving with absolutely no food except peanuts and some water. I am pretty adventurous when it comes to food, but that does not sound appealing at all.

Peanut sauces in general are something I struggle with. I keep trying them, thinking that I'll eventually acquire a taste for them, but I'm usually left thinking "That wasn't bad, but there are so many other things I like better." Curry is the same way. I know lots of people love it, so I keep trying it and hoping to find that right recipe.

Not exactly sure.

Our school switched up their routine some from when I went. Most of our phones were going us that monument day we were somewhere in that 13-15 miles. The leader also forgot to tell us that when we loaded up for the capital that morning. Meaning most of us had dress clothes (worst was the socks and shoes) while doing it.

I looked at the itinerary again and breakfast is 8:30 the first morning. 7am the other 2 mornings. ;) I am just glad she has an open weekend when she gets home because she will need to recover. She does not do caffeine except for what little may be in a Frappuccino. At our parent meeting, the principal said kids would go to the convenience store near the hotel and buy cases of Mt. Dew. Had to drink it all before they left again . . . .

Last week the coaches sent out a different pitcher in for my daughter for the last two innings of a JV game. Seen this girl a year or so ago and she was so erratic that one batter may see one in the dirt, one over the backstop and one in each dugout during their at bat. This time she keeps catching the inside corner and kneecapping the hitters at blazing speed. Most of the crowd silently looks at each other with the, here's our varsity pitcher look. This last week the coaches decide to see her at the varsity level. She gets declared academically ineligible that morning.
