In response to last night's talk, I like baseball, basketball, football, soccer, hockey and Star Wars. I'm simply easy to entertain.

Watching the NFL on Sundays was a treat growing up. Same with the NBA. We listened to MLB games out in the fields and went to quite a few Twins games. Empire Strikes Back was my first movie in a theater. I didn't appreciate hockey and soccer until I got older and really paid attention to it, but I enjoy them both now.

I've been watching more hockey lately. Husband spent part of youth living in Canada. It helps with better TVs to see the puck. We went to a few Iowa Wild games this year, they are fun. The beer prices are shocking though.

My first taste of hockey was at the ISU club games. There we a number of guys on my floor that played for the club. Every game was a party.

I'm far from a huge hockey fan, but I will say that seeing an NHL game live is really impressive. The size, speed and agility of some of those guys is pretty amazing.

I never try to convert someone to a sport because some people like to hate things because it's cool. I know everyone has different tastes, but I sort of pity people that won't give something a try first, though. I guess I could replace "sport" with "anything in life" and it would also apply.

A woman I know is putting together a poker run and fundraising event to raise money for "Helping hands for animals"
What I don't understand is why she chose the particular venue. Parking is severely limited.

Amen. There is nothing in Sears that you can't see in Hancock plus you are pretty much right on the lake. The Zoo at Lincoln park is free if I remember correctly. Museum wise Science and industry is the bomb diggity, Field is good, Shedd meh, Art is not my thing so I was bored as hell there. I do highly suggest doing the architecture tour. Never done it or heard anything on it but the mob tour sounds interesting. Two must eat places are Portillos and somewhere with good pizza (Gino's East, Giordano's, Pizzeria Uno).
I agree with all of these things, even with the ratings of the museums, except that I like the art museum. It's incredible.

I would also add that, if you can, go see the bean. It's just such a cool and unique thing. Also, my sister's office is right across the street so if you're having foot problems you can drop my name. Fat chance she'll be working Friday afternoon or on the weekend, though.

On a related note, has anybody ever been to the Wiener Circle?

Ricky be Ricky. He liked to refer to himself in third person. I am so old, as a little girl I saw Vida Blue pitch for the Burlington Bees and the Iowa Oaks.

Mickey Mantle homering off of Jim Merritt at the old Met Stadium.
I think my first MLB baseball game growing up was a Royals game. George Brett didn't play because he had hemorrhoids.

Not even going to Google it to see where it is. On the art museum my sister who is more cultured than me enjoyed it.

I don't think we will do it this trip but it is also my goal someday to tour Wrigley.

Nice try, but that's not going into my search history to figure out what you're talking about.

Edit: wxman bet me to the punch by a lot. Great minds, mine is just older and slower.

It's safe to google. It's a counter-service hot dog place in Lincoln Park where you and the cashiers cuss at and insult each other while you order and wait for your extremely mediocre food. It's like ****'s Last Resort or Ed Debevic's with R-rated instead of PG-13 rated language and pretty terrible food.

I'd be very surprised if anybody ever went there before midnight or had a blood alcohol level below .12 and enjoyed themselves.

Nice! FYI Ed Debevics is closed for now. Sold the property for a new high rise and are moving to a new location downtown at a to be determined time and place.

so glad to be at our place. No delays, though a VERY tight connection in Heathrow made longer when they went through my luggage to scrutinize my craft scissors (US, Canada, and Jamaica trips with no trouble on those) - I did get to keep them. Had sent DH on because our gate was closing. Got there as we were boarding. Spent 80 minutes super sweaty and overheated, bleh. But no puking. The B&B is great so far, lovely view, birds chirping so now we are off to explore a pretty area a bit before dinner. They have the perfect sofa chair in a bay window...........I want to cross stitch here tonight!

Also, sleeping horizontally is the best. I look forward to it tonight.
