This may deserve it's own thread but figured I would start here. We have seen a growing number of "reports" on Facebook of what they felt was attempted abductions or sex trafficking stuff. Maybe I am too cynical of what I see online where I find it hard to believe but at the same time who knows.

Same. Some are posted by friends (reposting from a friend) others are in groups I belong to. I know this is a big area for sex trafficking with I35/80 running through Des Moines. I do try and be conscious of it since 99% of the time I am out alone with my kids. I used to send the young ones with the older ones to go look at toys in stores like Target, but don't do that as often.

I feel that way with a lot of the vaccine postings I've seen lately. Does the third shot really 'maybe' kill some preteens or not.

The trafficking stuff, I read then just remember I try to keep Z with me a lot anyway.

Should only be used sparingly as a mixer for rum.

That's why you drink it from a glass, not a can. Duh.

I'd like to get to a game at Miller Park sometime. We try to hit a new ballpark every so often and I've heard that it's a really nice venue.

Crappy because we lost. I always love going to Miller Park no matter the outcome. The roof was closed when we got there, but the panels were open. They opened the roof in the third inning and it cooled down about 10 degrees. It really is the best in baseball.

I couldn't decide if I was more surprised by the Brewers being swept or by the Cardinals sweeping the Royals. Both series affected the Central divisions in each league.

I think it's a combination of fake and paranoid. I've read ones where it's a super long post and all that ended up happening is the dude talked to their kid while in line. I'm like, that's not trying to abduct, that's being polite.

we had someone post in our neighborhood group last week about kids being approached by a 20 something dude in a old timey car offering a ride. Pitchforks were raised and police alerted. I had seen the car as well and didn't think much of it. Turns out guy had friends in the neighborhood but offered the wrong kids a ride. Meant to ask his friends' kids.

Birthday day for the 12yr old. Celebrating with a dozen donuts, she may need some help eating all those.
Have you noticed that Hy Vee has had doughnuts everywhere this month? They had stacks it seemed like.

Did you make them? One of my cherished memories is making doughnuts with my grandma.

Cardinals always seem to stay quiet and then just come out of nowhere and start making a run. For us, it just seems like we've run out of gas.

I swear that stuff is 90% clickbait. Facebook keeps putting more and more garbage out there in hopes of generating clicks for more revenue. I wonder if people actually share some of the crap that says they shared. I think facebook just sticks stuff out there claiming someone on your friends list shared it in hope that you click it.

Stranger danger was represented to me in the 1950's as "gypsies in big black cars" who might snatch you. Ethnic racism from the old country my grandmother apparently instilled in my mom. Also bad kids were "sold to the gypsies". Retrospectively a little disturbing to me.

I haven't ever made donuts, surprisingly. We are close to the north Fareway so I custom ordered a dozen (picked our favorite kinds) and picked up first thing this morning after I dropped the oldest off at lifting. I still have $20 on the Dunkin' Donuts app to use after they botched my plans to get my oldest donuts on her birthday (manager decided not to show up for work that day until hours after the opening time) but I never get down to that side of campus. I know people like Dutch Oven donuts, but a round trip downtown is a good 20 minutes.

My daughter's is next Friday. She just decided she wants to do a pool party at the city pool with 7 friends. Of all the organized birthday parties we've done, this could be the easiest and cheapest to date.

I'm just thankful we are finally done with the mega-parties with 15-20+ kids. Scaling back to 3-8 friends is so much easier.

There are many parallels for the 2011 and 2017 seasons for the Cardinals they keep pointing out--rally animal, back-to-back games with grand slams, scoring 8+ runs in 5 straight games. I'd take a repeat of 2011, but too much baseball left to get overly excited.

We are horrible parents and pretty much stopped birthdays after the 1st child. :( We do more outings than parties--for her 5th we went to the Mall of America, for her 7th my hubby, his dad, and our oldest went to St. Louis for a Cardinals game/sight seeing, last year we hit the state fair and Adventureland the weekend after her birthday. She does want to have a sleepover next year and ask for donations to an organization that supports families with her same birth defect.

I've never made donuts, what I really want to try making is bagels

I can't remember if I mentioned this but after several years of fighting the FAA on medical issues and a few months of some recurrent training my dad is signed off to act as pilot in command for the first time in 30ish years. I have flown him but he has never flown me so we were hoping to fly tomorrow but sadly the plane he rent is busy all day. So he thought maybe he would check on Sunday...that was three days ago. I wish he was as excited about this as I am.
