Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

I took yesterday afternoon off to spend with the kids. I decided we should get some exercise so we went for a bike ride. One of the destinations was Pizza Ranch so that pretty much offset any positive effects of the biking. The youngest daughter decided she really likes Pizza Ranch because they have great shredded cheese and pudding.

Also, I learned that there are Pokemen all over the bike trails in Elm Creek Park Reserve.

Pizza Ranch is good state fair training. Without a good base of fatty fried food and sugared desserts the state fair grub would probably shock a persons body.

BTW, I had no idea there were any up here, thought it was just a small Iowa town thing.

While sitting around the fire this weekend, we decided to go to the "I Love the 90's" concert in October. This has brought a mixed blessing of songs stuck in my head ever since.

Bust a Move - Good
Joy and Pain - Eh
Shoop - Not good
Ice, Ice Baby - Bad (OK. This one's a guilty pleasure nowadays)

It's not generally my kind of music but it still should be fun. Also, I'm being sure to use the name de guerre "Spinderella" as much as possible in conversation.
I saw Vanilla Ice in Hawaii 5 or 6 years ago. He was actually pretty good.

Danny Glover's finest hour in my book is Predator 2. He was all sorts of win that movie.

Speaking of Glover, I was in KC this summer at a BBQ place called Arther Bryant's and they had of pic of when Glover had visited there. Fast forward a month to a trip to Houston and this guy asked if I had eaten any Texas BBQ. I really didn't see any in my travels there. I mention my tavels elsewhere and Bryant's place in KC with Glover's pic. He immediately shows me the home screen on his phone which was a pic of him and Glover in LA at a restaurant during a random encounter.
AB's has the best BBQ! There was a second Predator?

I thought it was a small town Iowa thing too. Then, all of a sudden, one popped up less than a mile from our house.

We end up there once in a while after church on a Sunday morning. I generally eat much more than I should and then top it off with a root beer float and a cup of coffee. If I don't leave there totally miserable I feel that I have failed.

Damn Clonee and his Pizza Ranch post. Boxster eschewed his usually healthy breakfast of fruit and cereal and opted for waffles, bacon and an egg after reading that post. Well, more brunch I guess since first breakfast was coffee with a side of coffee.

I feel like the name Pizza Ranch is deceiving as I tend to eat a lot more of the chicken and mashed potatoes than the pizza.

You can say thank you. Now you're properly fueled up for the day.

I'm in a fantasy football league for the first time in about 7 years. I was talking to my son about his draft and asked who he drafted in the first round. He had the 4th overall pick and I had never heard of the guy.

Our draft is tonight. There's 18 teams in the league. My goal is not to make the best picks possible but to submit each of my picks within 10 seconds.

I saw a group of teenagers park a town car in a handicapped spot last night and walked into a store. As I walk by, I notice there is a handicapped plate on the car, but it is pretty obvious that it was a parent's car.

I try to tell myself I may be overlooking something, but when I see someone that parks in a handicapped parking spot and then bounces out of their car and walks into a store, I get incredibly ticked off. /rant

I'd stay away from Bridgewa..... ya know I just can't do it. It's too soon and it still hurts.

I keep telling myself that I'd enjoy fantasy football, but when I hear people talk about it in my office, I get bored to tears. My co-workers are like my social calendar Rotten Tomatoes. If certain people rant about something too much, I know to stay the hell away from it.

I'd try to drive to the ISU game this weekend, but all of the Vikings fans tears have created quite a bit of flooding.
