Only 2.5 out of 5 starts on Netflix. Do you guys usually care much about star ratings? I try to stay away from 1.5 or lower, but if something looks interesting I'll give it a shot regardless of reviews. I'm sure a lot of people who watched this movie expected: a) bigger budget b) more action c)more blood. It doesn't help that the Netflix description describes it as a "torture room" when it was nothing like that at all.
I disagree with reviews sometimes when they try to evaluate a movie as something it is not. Not everything is academy award worthy, but serve their purpose well. An action movie should be an action movie. Is the action great and entertaining? Works for me. People will give action movies bad reviews because the story line is unrealistic, acting was not amazing, etc. Comedy, action, sci-fi, and horror get the shaft when it comes to reviews. Hollywood reviewers only care for dramas (and so do many other people).I frequently disagree with the star system; to put it bluntly, I'm not a big fan of "art" films. I want movies to entertain me - even if it's in a disturbing fashion. Some of the 1 stars that don't take themselves too seriously turn out to be great giggle fests.
