Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

It's really actually sad because there are a lot of really nice things about Mason City. It's just unfortunate that with all the focus they tried to put into developing the west side over the decades, they've let a lot of the other areas just go to hell.

Birdsalls is delicious though. I make sure I go there at least once every time I'm home to go get ice cream. I believe it was also recently was rated in the top 5 for most iconic ice cream parlors in the Midwest.

Actually the last 10-15 years they have plowed tens of millions in the north side to clean up that mess area.

Drop of water in the ocean for what that area needs.

What parts have they been working on? Seems like the same old, same old when I've been up there (which granted has been maybe once in the last 8 years). I actually lived on the north side for about 6 months with my brother after college back in 06. Didn't seem like they were doing much then.

Looks like someone snapped a picture of Arob partying at the Indy 500.

I think i'd like to visit/stay at that Wright hotel. Maybe do that this fall after a football game.

I post the following in honor of my unexpected "pleasure" of installing a Badger 500 Insinkerator garbage disposal today. I suppose the Badger can also be in tribute to the Wisconsinites among us.

I've only drank at the bar there, haven't been to stay. The only complaint I've heard (and it's always from people that just think "fancy hotel" and not the historical aspect) is the rooms are small, but that's just the way the were made back then.

.
Agreed on Birdsalls

Yeah...it's not.

Crazy though - the strut took the hit and is fine...didn't even pop the tire. Engine also seems to be fine as well. It's a matter of hammering the crap out of the fender & hood so that there's reasonable closure. It's old enough & lame enough that we only had liability on it...replacement cost was less than premiums. And by a strange quirk of fate, it isn't covered by homeowners. If our vehicle caught fire in the garage, the damage to the garage would be covered by homeowners but not the vehicle.

So...if a tree falls on your truck, do you still hear it?
