Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

Night of the Living Deb? I liked it better than most. For some reason it got bad reviews, but I thought Thayer's character was hilariously quirky. She made the movie for me.

She really carried it because her male counterpart was just so generic and forgettable. But I enjoyed it. Not great, not bad. Don't regret watching it on a Tuesday night.

Damn. I have been MIA from RTT lately. So. Much. Work.

It just seems easier to keep up with rivals threads than trying to get caught up here. What did I miss the past few days?

PS: Happy Birthday, 55! I remember those days of being young and reckless. Well... just young.

Don't bother.

I need to revive that horror movie thread with a bunch of movies I've watched recently: Train to Busan, Phantasm V: Ravager, Lights Out, etc.

I remembered one you posted a while back that was kind of like, an alternate dimension to another time in the same apartment. Saw a movie on Netflix where the description vaguely sounded like that but couldn't remember the name of it.

Ever watch a movie from Spain called Time Crimes? Used to be on Netflix years ago and it was possibly one of the best time-travel/parallel universe movies I've ever watched. Relatively low budget but with a great plot and enough twists and turns to keep you hooked.

I assume that means you're still reckless.

Uncle Boxster is going to be pretty tired tomorrow. And by tired I mean alcohol fatigue.
Between work (year-end, new year, new software), wife's new job (works until 11 every night), kids' activities, Mom breaking her leg when she got hit by a moped and this dam cold; I could use some alcohol fatigue. Unfortunately, I don't see this happening in the near future.

Also, I have a couple lobster tails I'm worried about getting freezer burn. We won them at a meat raffle with the FIL a while ago. Are my priorities screwed up that I'm more concerned about the freezer burn than the possible parasites from the meat raffle meat?

long overdue kickball update. Not as good probably cause I've forgotten everything.

I got caught barely out my first time up and DH was 1st base coach and was all "why did you stop running?!" and I was like what?! I always run through! I had like, stubbed my toe or something about 3/4 to the base and had slowed down. I remember as it happened hoping that I would still make it. I was mad at him for thinking I had stopped.

There is one girl on our team who ALWAYS slows down coming to first and that's after she waits a good 2-3 seconds to watch her kick before she runs. I was like DH, I am NOT like that.

So then when DH went up to kick next, he had a great kick but then did what he later told me was called "TOOTBLAN" (thrown out on the bases like a nincompoop) when he couldn't decide whether to stay on 1st or go to 2nd. It was like a rabbit on the road when it just goes back and forth.

He made up for it with a fabulous catch. Like, on the run, pulled it in - we clapped. It was impressive. Though later another kick came at him and I turned around (he was behind me) thinking oh yeah, DH will have this. DH was on the ground. Taken out by the dew.

So there was a kick that came at me and I knew I probably couldn't back up fast enough and didn't think Dh was close enough behind me. So I jumped and kinda tried to block/set it. Thought maybe I'd set it to myself but it was a pretty solid block and went straight down. It did hold the guy at first and he'd have been 2nd for sure if it was over my head. Afterward, our bench was like yeah, we could hear the other bench talking and they were like "whoa, is that some kinda technique she used?" Uh yeah, totally a designed play. We'll go with that. I did get a throw to DH at 2nd for an out. I was happy about that.

I can't remember a lot of the rest other than I got to 2nd which was good. We had a 4 run inning but then gave it all back and went into the end like 8-4, I believe? So I was up with like 2 outs, bases loaded and was like dang, IDK what to do. So I bunted. It went foul, but I had run to first where DH was. He's like don't bunt! This is not a bunt situation! He said "kick hard...." and I guess I missed the rest. Our guy being 1st base coach was like "bomb it".

So I went back to try again and they did move in on me since I bunted. I kicked hard. It was a pretty good kick, but they still caught it :( Dh was like I said kick hard on the ground. I said yeah I missed the rest of that. I think he may have scored or at least kicked well enough to get someone else home at some point.

So we ended up losing. This team was 3rd in the league and had only lost to 1 and 2 so not bad. Though we have playoffs in two weeks and we get to play them again. Oh boy.

On the way home I was asking DH about that last kick of mine and if I really had a chance He said, yeah, that was tough because bases were loaded and they were good at catching. Also on the way home, I was saying how I tried "blocking" that one ball because I couldn't back up fast enough. He said you know you could try turning around to run, then just watch over your shoulder to catch.

I go, "DH, you just told me to do like three things requiring coordination all at the same time."

DH "yeah, that's true."

Still a pretty darn good update. Though not your best, it was certainly worth the wait.

I think the trouble with waiting so long to post this is not that you are missing any details. More so, the problem is that you are missing some of the passion (as indicated by the lack of exclamation points).

Also, I would like to point out the possibility of becoming a writer of erotic fiction.
I turned around (he was behind me) thinking oh yeah, DH will have this

And the rainy season continues. Also cold, maybe too cold to put second coat on garage block wall since I am guessing that wall is less then 50 degrees.
