Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

Made it back. Today was loooong. A tire on the truck had been leaking a bit and was getting worse so we Slimed it to seal it. It didn't work so we took it to a shop to patch it layer down the road. Of course we waited forever and then it took some time but I'm finally back.

Another attempt at a CG style post...

To waste time between Church and meeting the in-laws for lunch at Red's Ale House in CR we took LittleWx to Old McDonalds Farm at Bever park. He enjoyed it and I learned about the difference between beef and milk cows. CG be proud. Oh and LittleWx petted the calves.

We were not impressed with Red's and probably won't be back unless just for drinks. Food took for freaking ever and was nothing more than fried stuff for the most part.

GR8-We had our A/C go out in our house in Wichita on a Saturday of a patented southern plains summer day (temps around 100). We spent the whole day in the basement and by 4PM it was 90 upstairs and heating up downstairs. We gave in and called for a weekend repair since our sanity and marriage were riding a thin line (not to mention daycare kids first thing Monday morning). $225 for a weekend callout and replacement of the condenser transistor.

I just finished reading Entreleadership. I am a very slow reader with a short attention span and we can't remember if I started reading it two or three years ago. I would like to read Tony Dungy's Uncommon Man but I would have to buy it since I would be paying for a part time employees salary at the library by renting it.

BoxsterCy we were only about 20 miles apart yoday.

Hey I can stay up late a! Lots of laundry packing and mowing tomorrow

It's all in the hips. :)

Snuck in another dusk bike ride 45 minutes or so. it was still 90 when I started but no intense sun it went well. Beginning to get used to the toe clip shoes. Still way behind but at least I'm trying.

This reminds me that husband and I were watching the LSU college baseball game late last night. Baton Rouge is in the same time zone as us. They put up a graphic around 11:20p, and it was 87°. None of the crowd seemed affected. I was broiling just thinking about it.

In Iowa so drove to Dyerville and had a pork tenderloin sammich. It was good. Had some here in town, Manchester, that were kinda greasy.

Seemed like the Iowa thing to do but did wash it down with a Minnesota Saga IPA. Of course the beer was served in a Ball brand mason jar. Fit the restaurant theme I guess. :)
where's the one in Dyersville? I drive by there when I go to and from Madison

We have Pants 5-6 hours behind us, and Woo now is 5-6 hours in front of us. All we need is an India poster and we should have all hours covered in RTT.

Pants and I are 12 hours apart I think (I'm seven ahead of ct) so we've got it pretty much covered. We just need rtt people in Beijing and the eastern time zone to have spread out every six hours

It's amazing how things seem to know when it's the weekend so they fail then. A couple of summers ago the spring on my garage door broke on 4th of July weekend.
I closed the vents in the spare bedrooms and shut those doors. Also closed the vents in the lower part of the house which usually stays bearable in order to try to direct what little cool air there is into the main areas. A guy I work with has a cousin that owns a local heating and air company so I'll give him a call this morning and see when I can get someone out there. You know after this weekend they have to be getting all sorts of calls.

I know this is probably an unpopular opinion, but Nirvana ******* sucks.
I'll go with this. Overrated - yes. Sucks - probably a little too strong of a word.

From a lyrical standpoint, I think I heard that Kurt Cobain, often times, didn't try very hard. Sometimes he would just put in random words or phrases because he didn't really care what the lyrics were.

I'm guessing based on the mason jar beer glass, that he's talking about the Country Junction. It's literally a stone's throw from the main exit ramp off of highway 20, so it'd be a good stop on your way thru. Look for the place that looks like a barn with a silo.

Reading that Game of Thrones thread, I have no clue about half of what I read. How do people remember all those names?
I have to assume those that do have read the books.
