Most kids can't even read when they are 4

There are a lot of things for a child to learn before reading. All the more reason that a tablet can be a help. You don't have to know how to read when a tablet can speak to you.

Trust me, as a parent of a child with special needs and a learning disability a tablet would have been a big help at 4. I wish we would have gotten one then.

We have a couple of little games/learning things on our iPad for our 1 year old. He enjoys it for a few minutes before moving on. He may or may not be learning is ABCs or numbers from it but it can't hurt.

Plus - don't judge unless you are a parent (or just don't judge).

Sometimes you just need the kid to ******* shut-up and be still for a minute, and a youtube video of grown-ups playing with Playdoh is the only thing that will do it. :twitcy:

There is that too. We try and limit his iPad/TV time as much as possible but at times it is unavoidable. Same goes for my wife's daycare. She doesn't have the TV on all day but when making lunch or trying to get younger kids to sleep it is about all you can do with the older ones especially when the weather is not great.

This is true at first but not universally. At some point you look at all of the bad choices your daughter made or could have made and you are happy when she makes a good choice.

To be fair it may actually end up somewhere between liking him and accepting him as the lesser of evils.
I was going to say, is it really that she made a good choice or just the least-bad choice

I didn't play video games till I was like 8

Neither did they. Matter of fact, they bought their first (original) Nintendo with pooled Christmas & Birthday money because I wouldn't buy them one.

I don't agree with tablets being babysitters any more than I agreed with continuous video games or tv shows. Moderation and selectivity are the keys here.

In Mason city, there is a state farm agent that has an old brick church as his office. Definitely not typical. Did a double take on it.

Had to take a test at NIACC. Me and a niacc taking the test in the test room. I passed, he bombed.
