I really want to avoid a snowblower for just this year. Good exercise and all that. And no sidewalks. I have a feeling after the first snow I'll be like yep, screw that, getting a snow blower now.

where do people buy snow boots? Mine were always from Farm & Fleet, but they were steel-toed (cows are heavy, yo) and made for being stuck outside in Alaska for days. Or just a couple hours feeding calves, whatevs. I don't know what kind of boots are appropriate for city people, hahaha.
My dad has a great pair of warm rubber boots that were my grandpa's and I think he got them at farm and fleet. I'd say go with what you'd wear on the farm (or something close to it) because those are so much better IMO

Idea for a thread. Post a meme or gif of a celeb, athlete or whatever. Next person to post has to quote it and post a different person and they have to have a connection (and write the connection) to previous posting. Could go on forever.

Maybe it's been done. I'd do it but heading to bed.

My nieces go with Ugg knock offs. I would suggest checking with 55 she falls into the modern city woman demographic.

Has anyone ever heard of anything like this before? I sure haven't. Hail basically forms when water droplets attach to a particle and get lifted by the updraft of a thunderstorm to the freezing level where the water freezes. The particle eventually becomes heavy enough that it begins to fall below the freezing line to the point that the updraft carries it back up and a new layer of water droplets freeze. This process repeats itself until the size of the hailstone is such that the updraft is no longer able to lift it back upwards and the hailstone falls to the ground.

In this case, one of the Pampa tornadoes from the other night lifted a piece of corn stalk so high that it become caught in the updraft of the storm and became the nucleus for a hailstone. The cornstone fell out of the sky and someone found it and took a picture of it.

Wild.

Not a weather nerd, and haven't heard of it before, but cornstalk is very light. The inside is like styrofoam.

like the ones with fur around the top? I noped out of DSW pretty fast. Decided since I want these to also be a pair I could use should I theoretically ever do winter activity things, that they need to be warm. I have a Cabela's, Gander, and ****'s all very close to me so I think that's where I'll head first. F&F is a bit further away.
