Speaking of the Dakar Rally, I think that got cancelled a few years ago due to terrorism concerns/threats. Not sure if they brought it back, but plans were to race in France instead. I always thought that was such a cool race where any type of vehicles could enter (motorcycles, rally cars, dune buggies, pickup trucks, etc) and it was more of an endurance race across some harsh landscapes.

Oh, and just so Box doesn't think I'ma turn into a coal rolling nob, the Colorado Diesel is fully emissions compliant with a DEF injection system to light truck standards, not to heavy duty truck standard (F-250/2500 series have different standards, and that's what most of the rednecks run).

One thing I found interesting, it has an exhaust brake (or Jake Brake for those who recall that term)...wonder how they work that without making it sound so darn loud?

I'd enter with a Razr scooter.

They have something similar in Missouri. My buddies and I have always wanted to pool our cash to build a WRX to run in it. Participating in a rally is definitely on my bucket list.

According to the wiksapedja, it's been held in South America since 2009.

Are you talking a rally, like WRC, or the Paris-Dakar Rally, which is pretty different?
I'm not familiar with the Paris-Dakar. The one in Missouri is more WRC oriented however it has a similar setup in that its small enough that anyone can participate with whatever they choose.

Dakar rally is more of a true off road race, like Baja 1000...stadium truck like stuff (but as he mentioned, anything can race it...buggies, motorcycles...stuff like this:

GTO alluded to it in his post, but 'rally' is becoming a confusing name for it with the popularity of WRC style 'rally' racing.

I'd be curious to see what kind of speeds those get up to.

Little Wx was dedicated at church today. The church we goes to currently meets at the CR Double Tree. Well this weekend was apparently also the Cedar Rapids Comic Con also being held there. That was a very interesting mix of people.

Here is a little something for you Pants, FreeBorn's first post. Funny, I don't see him saying "Eww, yucky, I hate the Hawks!" This was July 2014

Clones, tell me what you really think.
Greetings!

New here, but am a life long Iowan and have followed both the Clones and the Hawks since I was about 8 years old. I'm not a huge fan of either ISU or Iowa, but am a very avid college football enthusiast.

Historically, I have liked both the Clones and the Hawks (weird, I know), but have never been a die hard fan of either team because of a few things I don't like about them. I can't stand Ferent'z coaching style, and I really don't consider him much of a head coach. Good O-line coach though. I think he had early success because he hired a very good staff that could recruit good players. Once they left, he has had trouble. And he's one of the worst ever game day coaches in all of football, not just college. I'm talking in ALL of football.

The thing I don't like about ISU is, well, you guys usually lose a lot of games each season. And I never thought McCarney turned the program around. You don't have a last season like he did if you truly turned the program around. And I am unsure if your team will ever be a winning team, season in and season out.

Having said all that, what do you guys think of your program currently?

Will CPR turn it around? (I certainly don't think he will this year. You don't have good talent at all.)

Should the fat offensive coach get the nod to turn the program around?

What do you all think?

Holy Cow Girl!! Computer Super sleuth. That's some might fine detective skills there Birdy.

Speed was not everything in the Dakar rally. It is about endurance as they ranged from dirt roads, to desert, to sand dunes. I can't remember exactly how many days long it was, but being prepared was a huge part of it. Plenty of water, food, etc. Teams would spend the night at different towns and I believe no racing was allowed after dark. If your vehicle broke down in the middle of the desert, you were at the mercy of another rider picking you up.

00, three man team. Me, you, and Cyclonick buy one of these Kamaz trucks and head down to South America for the next Dakar. All we need is a sponsorship from Cyclone Fanatic.
