So what did a miss? Caught the most of the first quarter in an exam room at the hospital. Little TV in the room had the game on. Got a brain MRI during the 2nd quarter.

Had a vision freakout around 5:30. Had a little flash like thingy in my field of vision like from a bright light or flash except it had sharp pointed colored edges. Closed one eye, then the other and it was the same for both. Then the spot started getting bigger and bigger and bigger till everything when fuzzy and oddly distorted. Told my friend I think we had better go to the ER.

On the drive over if got weirder and weirder. Objects I looked at had no left. Oncoming car, right half only and background where the left should be. Same for signs. Stop sign was “OPâ€￾ and half an octagon. Was freakin’ me out. Also felt super dizzy and nauseated.

After some time in ER room started to feel better. MRI was fine, no stroke. Eyes looked fine. It was a ot of ******* around to get to point of saying it's likely an ocular migraine. Looked it up and the image example looks a lot like what I was seeing. Still don’t feel good, have headache and kinda queasy but vision is okay again. A freaky WTF for sure.

I hope you were able to sleep and feel better when you get up!!

Boxster--that sounds pretty damn scary. An MRI is not usually on my Saturday night fun list.

NWICY--we ended up watching Despicable Me 2. I gave them three choices out of our hundreds of movies. Hard to please everyone from 12 - 2 on movie night. The younger ones actually like Harry Potter. With the oldest she had to wait to watch until she had read the corresponding book. The 10yr old hasn't even finished the first book so we kinda break that rule with her.

Hubby liked the End Zone Club, so it was worth going for him to check it out. Although he did say for the entire end zone area inside there were only bathrooms (one on each floor) and each had like 4 urinals and 4 stalls, so essentially 16 urinals for 3000 people drinking beer. Curious how many women's bathroom stalls there are there.

Get on Facebook see friends that went to UNI tailgates up there for their HC game yesterday. Holding hawkeye koozies. Sounds about right.

Here is a little something for you Pants, FreeBorn's first post. Funny, I don't see him saying "Eww, yucky, I hate the Hawks!" This was July 2014

Clones, tell me what you really think.
Greetings!

New here, but am a life long Iowan and have followed both the Clones and the Hawks since I was about 8 years old. I'm not a huge fan of either ISU or Iowa, but am a very avid college football enthusiast.

Historically, I have liked both the Clones and the Hawks (weird, I know), but have never been a die hard fan of either team because of a few things I don't like about them. I can't stand Ferent'z coaching style, and I really don't consider him much of a head coach. Good O-line coach though. I think he had early success because he hired a very good staff that could recruit good players. Once they left, he has had trouble. And he's one of the worst ever game day coaches in all of football, not just college. I'm talking in ALL of football.

The thing I don't like about ISU is, well, you guys usually lose a lot of games each season. And I never thought McCarney turned the program around. You don't have a last season like he did if you truly turned the program around. And I am unsure if your team will ever be a winning team, season in and season out.

Having said all that, what do you guys think of your program currently?

Will CPR turn it around? (I certainly don't think he will this year. You don't have good talent at all.)

Should the fat offensive coach get the nod to turn the program around?

What do you all think?

Birdy, how did you find that? When I looked at his posts, it only shows you about 200 of them

I did an advanced search using his user name. It came up with the threads he started (funny, many of them ended up being locked for some reason). The internets don't forget . . .

Perfect lesson for all of us. And especially if you then try and pretend you are a cyclone fan

Edit: and thanks for showing me that. That was useful in the other thread

Sunday morning rambles:

First WTF moment of the day. Grabbed newspaper off the porch and see my neighbor now has a big black Hummer H2 utility sports truck in his driveway. The one with the mini pickup bed. Seriously?

Thinking back on yesterday before my eyes and brain went all Timothy Leary on me I see I forgot to post the import stuff like my successful wine run to the last day of the big Surkdyks store sale.

Open house yesterday for one of the new houses a few doors down from me. Stopped in and chatted with the agent. Spec house with asking price of $1.1M! Yikes!

At least Hannover 96 (the soccer team I cheer for) won. Yeah, they did it on handball, but I've been kicked in the crotch so many times as an Iowa State fan that I don't care.

Birdy with the CG stalker skills! Nice!

I worked for the ISU Foundation for about two days. One of the first things they told us was "if someone wants something donated to a specific category, just tell them it's going there, but put it toward what you're collecting for. They never really know where it's going anyway."

Didn't come back after that day. That **** is way too shady for me. But, that was over a decade ago. Hopefully things are different there now.

I've never donated to them because I want to donate to specific stuff and that would **** me off. When I worked for our department and we'd do thank-yous for the donations - I could see if theirs had been put toward something specific or just the general fund for the major. So I've done it a couple times where I've donated to a specific fund that I benefited from in college. Like to do a scholarship for my major someday.
