So today is school picture day (which I hate--too much stress). Anyway I was giving my 10yr old options for what to wear. I thought this shirt would be good, until I realized the Eiffle Tower would get cut off in the pic. No bueno.

(Sorry if pic is sideways, you get the idea . . . )

Good catch mom! nice not to have to explain that one in the class photo composite.

He woke up this morning, ate his cinnamon toast that I made for breakfast and decided that wasn't filling enough so he grabbed one of those little packages of bread sticks with cheese before I realized he had done this. When I realized that he had done this it was almost gone. This is a good sign that he feels better.

If you think he may be bound up, keep him away from the cheese, jcyclonee.

If you don't like it, try detasseling or baling hay. Say hi to the spiders for me.

I would add mowing hay to that list. (That's putting the hay in the hay mow, not cutting it. Are they both spelled the same?) On a hot day the mow can be 120 degrees and so dusty you can't see from one end to the other. Good times.

We have to go to a wedding this Saturday. The wedding is for two Iowa fans (One is a ISU alum and the other a ISU drop out).

My question is: would it be acceptable to wear a ISU tie for the wedding?

Reaching back into the "way-back" bin...my first job, I earned $0.95/hr at a place called "Burger Bar". It was located in the Food Circus at the Seattle Center (former home of the 1962 World's Fair). I was thrilled when I got bumped up to $1.00/hr by the end of the summer. That was the summer of 1974. The first time I had a salaried clerical job (doing billings for advertisements in trade journals for a publishing firm in San Francisco) I made $12,000/year before taxes. That was in 1981. Times do change...

Cue jokes about electricity and gas-powered engines....

Any other day of the year, I would say it is their day, don't drag ISU/Iowa rivalries into it. But since they scheduled their wedding on this day and ruined a lot of fans' rivalry day by having to attend a wedding rather than seeing the game, I say go for it.

I just call it baling hay to keep it separate from sitting on the tractor mowing. But yeah, I avoided being the mow person. Being close to the top or bottom both had their bad parts. At the bottom, you've got to watch out for 50lb bales dropping 20ft down at you and that also creates more dust, but at the top, the hot air is worse, harder to keep up with the bales..........and all the wasp nests are right in your face.

Once I was old enough to not be sitting at the back of the wagon, I started fighting hard to be the main wagon person. You're out in the sun and your arms get exhausted and lopsided muscle-wise because you touch every bale instead of splitting it with 2-3 people, but I hated being in the mow.

I would also add dehorning and cleaning out grain bins to the worst list. Though I never had to do grain bins.

I agree. They asked for it by scheduling their wedding on that day. I will qualify it by assuming that they aren't douchecanoes. I will also warn you to wear your thick skin. You will be hassled, which I believe that you are expecting.

I lived in Iowa City for two years when my wife was finishing school. I can handle one wedding haha.

We had rattlesnakes in the hay we baled. I'd rather have spiders.
I know rattlesnakes are worse but we believe the whole stomach cramps ordeal with my son started with a spider bite. He was bitten by a spider a while ago. It became infected and the doctor put him on some sort of heavy-duty antibiotics which may have caused some sort of stomach reaction. He's just about done with the cycle of antibiotics so, hopefully, it is all better.

There are a couple of antibiotics that I can't take because after a couple of days, I start heaving them up again, making them worthless...Erythromycin and Doxycycline are taboo for me. Oddly enough, I can take a Z-pak, which is in the mycin family...but we suspect it's because I only have to take it for three days. I'm assuming you follow the directions as to taking the specific med he's on - whether it should be a full or empty stomach, milk or juice or water, etc... :)

I hope the infection is cleared up. Some spider bites can be really nasty. Do you know what kind bit him?

You should probably put more emphasis on narwhal and corgi t-shirts.

Probably good advice but he had it down before I had a chance to tell him not to. Oh well, that stuff is about as close to real cheese as the University of Iowa is to a real school.

By the way, I heard a rumor that there may soon be a Hi-Five in Brooklyn Park.

Never participated in dehorning (Grandpa had polled Herefords)...but I DID get to help shear sheep once. ONLY ONCE. NEVER AGAIN!!!! Nasty smelly itchy YUCK!

Let me see if I have the facts straight.

- ISU alum and ISU drop out and they are both Hawkeye fans.
- They schedule a wedding on the day of the Iowa State/Iowa game.
- They invited you so I assume you consider them friends and not some random douchecanoes.
- They schedule a wedding on the day of the Iowa State/Iowa game.

It's on. Cardinal tux, gold tie. Just own it.
Use Chizik coins to pay for the dollar dance.
Have the ISU fight song as your ring tone and have your wife call you every five minutes during the ceremony.
