So you're saying we should have a baby while this insurance is still in effect!

Probably, yes. Are there any other women she works with (or whoever has the insurance) who have the same coverage and had a baby recently? For our first baby 11.5yrs ago I had my own insurance through the school district I worked for and paid $25 for having a baby. And that was for a Dr. visit co-pay with my general practitioner to confirm the pregnancy. (OB clinic I went to wouldn't take you unless you were truly pregnant). Everything else including all pre-natal visits, ultrasound, tests (gestational diabetes, what used to be called the triple screen for certain birth defects), delivery, hospital stay before delivery due to kidney stones, and anything baby related (her stay, Ped visit, hip ultrasound to rule out hip dysphasia). $25.

Fast forward to baby number two who was born with a birth defect that we didn't know about before delivery. Emergency transport to a different hospital (in a different state), 6 weeks in the NICU, surgery, ventilation, special nutrition, all follow-up visits, etc and our bills before insurance were over $500k. I can't remember what we paid that year, but it was more than $25.

Our ur last two babies we have had a HD plan, but HSA to cover out of pocket expenses. The OB clinic will bill, the lab will bill, the u/s will be billed, the radiologist, the hospital will bill, the anesthesiologist will all bill separately. Fun times. At our clinic you go in and meet with a nurse before you start OB services and you also go over billing stuff with the billing office. They give an estimate of services and try to give you an idea of what it will cost with your specific insurance.

Having the the baby is just the tip of the iceberg. $100 will be the least of your worries. :)

Have you ever been in a large meeting where "Any questions" seemed to be a green flag for the morons to start asking the dumbest questions ever? Yeah, those suck.

Welcome to mafia Dandy. Have fun, just remember not to vote for me or break my record of most amount of games played without being mafia.

Golfed with my ex-boss today (actually every Thursday). Knew our third wouldn't be playing, so I knew I would be riding in his Hawkeye cart. I got the first shot in though. He is a Bears fan, so I wore one of my Bills sweatshirts

I was about to be that guy that posts something about his fantasy football team that nobody cares about...then I stopped myself and did this post about it instead.

I need some explanation from a current student with a meal plan. Specifically, I need to know if you can get a "lunch to go", or if you have to get a meal during certain hours?

depends where you are getting food from..

You can get a lunch on the go...you have to ask the person that swipes your card for a "to-go container". He'll give you one, the only problem is that you can only go though the line once and you have "15 minutes" to get food (highly doubt most people give a crap, but whatever.

The C-stores only have meals you can get at certain hours. The one by UDCC you can only get a sandwich meal bundle from 6p-11p or something like that.

All eating places you can get food on the go.

I have an employee who tells me he has change his schedule because he can't pack a lunch like other students do because he has a meal plan. He has class until 11.50, and is supposed to be to work from noon to five. He already is scheduled for the fewest hours of any of our lab rats (10 hrs), and between showing up late & leaving early, he has actually only worked 6 hours a week the last two weeks, meaning everyone else has to cover for him. This latest is pretty much the last straw as far as I'm concerned, but I wanted to figure out if he's lying about meals or honestly can't bring a lunch with him (he gets a 15min paid break mid shift). I'm not inclined to be lenient or accommodating based on his track record so far.

I remember when DD was an undergrad, and what the dining website said (something to the effect of eating/choosing meals to eat whenever you wanted wasn't 't actually true. However , you can always check with the dining folks for their interpretation of what the rules are.

I did c-store lunches a couple times....once I did at like 10am, I think, another one I want to say I went before my 8am class.

But seriously, it's not hard to pack a PBJ sandwich a couple times a week. Do you guys have microwave they can use? Bring a cup of soup.

Don't care
Microwave
Thru the bathroom if you have different waking/dressing schedules. That way, you go in, close one door, shower, dress, open one door. That's the way it was in our old house. New house they're on separate sides of the bedroom, so it's up, shower and back thru the BR to dress.
