Took a drive up to the North Shore to get a shave ice today. Couple of pics.
Thumb got in the way a little..... That's a half lychee-half mango (all delicious) shave ice with sweetened condensed milk.

they wanted beef for dinner. I did not. I just wanted to tell them about the health benefits of chicken.
Once I took over morning milkings, it was me telling my dad to get up. He would happily wait to get started after 8am and I wanted to get **** done and be back to the house before 11am. Plus, the ventilation in the barn was terrible so I didn't want the cows or myself in there in the summer.
The snow cone is it's disgusting, bastardized step cousin. A snow cone is broken up ice. Shave ice is a smooth treat, the consistency of snow.
I was well into my thirties before I realized the whole sexual/virgin connection between calling unpopped popcorn kernels "old maids" - and the "unpopped" lady parts of the human old maid.
In one sense I'm kind of amazed at the people who called them (unpopped kernels) that - that they would talk that way in front of innocent children.
On the other hand, now I kind of understand why sometimes they would kind of snicker when they'd say, "I call the unpopped ones Old Maids, ha ha."
