Growing up we used to put a few onions in the pickle jars when we made pickles. I really liked pickled onions.
My boss is supposed to be getting me a recipe for some pickled onions we had at the office. They were the bomb! I'd even drink the brine if I had to.

So I have absolutely no idea how to use those phones. If I had to use one I would need to look up instructions first.

Unrelated, but the big 10 network drives me nuts. I was watching a show where they were discussing all the teams that made it into the tournament, and they were just being too complementary. I want to get actual complements and insight, not meaningless ones. Because hearing "Wisconsin is a nightmare matchup for Virginia" isn't helpful. Plus, they said Iowa was a sweet sixteen/elite eight caliber team. I understand talking up your teams, and I don't think it's bad to say something along the lines of "If Iowa gets hot from behind the line they could make it to the sweet sixteen/elite eight." But saying they are that caliber of team is ridiculous

Stupid cats took the silicone earbuds off my bluetooth earbuds. Of course new silicone cover things are the same price as new earbuds.

Interesting day yesterday. Wife got a text from one of her former classmates friends congratulating my son on getting this decent scholarship. Asked my son if he had heard anything and he said no. I rummaged around their twitter account and found their newsletter sure as all get out there it is.

Then late at night I finally ask if he has made up his mind on where he is going, he has apparently basically decided, @jcyclonee this is how you do it, he's becoming a CYCLONE. Has decided to walk away from his football scholarship and be done. Seems satisfied to just be a student. Many of the same reasons that I had when I walked away from mine. Except I had been through the process about 10 months earlier.

If he still wants to be involved with football I can let him know when the managers or video crew are hiring.

I will ask, I think he will probably go the line of me. When you have always done it and had the opportunity to play at the next level, you usually will just stay away and distance yourself so you don't second guess your decision.

I chose to learn new sports and branch elsewhere. I told him how I started to learn a little of Lacrosse and learning rugby was an opportunity but I was on crutches at the time so that never happened. He seemed to be interested when I talked about just having fun and learning new things. He also will have the same problem that I had and never played flag football because of it. We are both contact players, we played because we wanted to drop a punishing hit on the other players (and sometimes on our own teammates when they got in our way) so you feel like you are not being true to yourself playing flag.

I will mention it to him and truthfully, thanks for the offer.

There's always officiating through Recreation Services. Choose your sport and "be in charge." Lets one stay involved, although at a distance, and pick up some money. https://www.recservices.iastate.edu/employment/

My boyfriend sophomore year was an intramural ref for football & basketball. I used to go to games when he was reffing so we could go out together afterward. I found out VERY fast that when people ask you "which team are you rooting for?" you do NOT respond with "Oh, the ref is my boyfriend". ;) He taught me how to do stats so that I was there "officially" and wouldn't get bombarded by both sides about what a knownothing, biased jackass he was. :D

A lot of HS football players take up rugby and really enjoy it. From your perspective though, I'm not sure if you want him going to the rugby parties.

This is like stealing money. First year sucks because you get garbage games to officiate (give me A league basketball over D league all day) but if you do a good job the next year you're doing A league and probably supervising some. Next year you're full-time supervising and life is easy peasy.
