Yesterday morning, Mrs. JCyclonee took the son to the doctor for the follow-up exam for my son's broken finger. He said the finger wasn't healing, he'd almost definitely need a cast and probably surgery. We scrambled to get an appointment with a pediatric orthopedic doctor yesterday afternoon and I found one in downtown St Paul. He said everything looks fine and he shouldn't even need a splint in about a week. That was a roller coaster ride.

Cut it off then you know it wouldn't give you any issues now or in the future. Anytime my kids would complain something hurts I'd always ask them if they want me to cut it off and they would give me a startled look and say it wasn't so bad anymore.

Girls HS state basketball on. Lightly listened to the hall of fame inductions. One caught my attention in passing. Mike **** ( probably sensored but short for Richard). Guy said it quick and I thought he said something else.
Not to be confused with former Iowa high school legend Fonda Dix. True story.

Learned how to play "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright" on my guitar last night. I've been listening to it on repeat all day and I'm really struggling trying to get that Dylan mix of sounding great but awful at the same time.

Drank wine and watched Arrival on the Delta flight home this evening. Agree with @carvers4math , Amy Adams is pretty good in this.

Got home and decided to celebrate homecoming with more wine. Opened bottle up wine and realized I have no food other than half a frozen pizza and some herring in wine sauce (been gone for 15 days). So wine, herring and pizza for the win!

Ok. To ease the mind-blowing nature of my having kids (for Pants and CG), I'll throw in a kid story. My 7 year old daughter was talking and mentioned that all life forms reproduce. I agreed, but mentioned that some individuals within a species were not always able to reproduce. She followed that up with "Yes. Ms Name can't have kids because she has a miss".. I said "She has a miss?". 7 year-old said "Yes, you know, a Ms in front of her name instead of a Mrs. Maybe if she adds a Mrs. she will have kids".

I did not follow up on that,

We had our belated birthday party for my oldest niece today. A week ago she turned 8 but for her birthday weekend she hosted her first sleepover with her friends. Dinner was at HuHot in Ames. Never been there as Asian cuisine is not my thing. It was alright but nothing I would be in a hurry to do again.

Opened presents back at the house and one of the gifts was a box of pranks (water squirting ring, whoopee cushion, disguise glasses. Put the glasses on but outside of the big nose and big eyebrows you wouldn't notice anything different on me. I wear glasses and am sporting my annual lucky bball beard and mustache so you can't even see the fake mustache.

Also found out at the party I will be an uncle for the 5th time in July. My sister who lives in Ames has 8 and 4 year old girls and my brother in Boston has a 3 year old boy and a girl that will be 1 in a month. Dad is convinced the new one will be a boy and he called my brother having a girl. I sure my brother in law is rooting for a boy as he is already in a house with 3 girls. :)

Drinkin' wine, eatin' chocolate/fruit truffles and catchin' up on missed episodes of The Expanse. Oh, yeah. I do love me some first class scifi.
