Random Thoughts IV

I just went outside for the first time since 6:00 this morning. How did you bike 20 miles in this stuff? I'm sweaty and exhausted from walking across the street to the parking ramp.

I hydrated a lot this morning. Surprised myself a little. Thought I would take it easy but it was one of my fastest rides of the year. Old man be crazy.

Got a "Go Cyclones!" from a guy who looked to be 10 years older than me who was biking Isles with his wife. :)

This will probably not be funny unless you go look at the "Somewhere Over the Rainbow Pot O' Gold St. Patricks Day Cookie Cutter" on Amazon. I'm sorry - I don't think the mods would let me put a picture of it here...

product review:

I ate a cookie made from this mold and now I'm pregnant. Thanks a lot, Amazon.

Well, ya COULDA posted the link at least.

Yet another old person internet fail.

Just tore up the "If I Die of Heat Stroke" note I left on the counter. Would have left my bacon to 00, my rhubarb and Kona beer to Pants and any plants that she could dig up and move to Wisconsin to CG. Bummer for you guys; I lived.

* Seriously, I am old and not going to bike NWICY distances! :)

I see how it is.

Pants it's nice your friend trusts you enough to share.

Rev, do they still make the rubber chew rings that you keep in the freezer for kids?

WDSM Freak out level low if you invite them over for a couple, or at least give the closest neighbors a heads up on what's going on.

KC, that was me that froze sweet corn.

Tell me how, please? I was gifted a couple dozen large ears, and there's no way we two can eat them before they spoil.

Well, admittedly, you weren't asking me, but just boil them for a couple minutes, cut the corn off with a knife, then bag into freezer bags. We just did a few ears in the same scenario, but when I was a kid, we used to help mom and dad do enough to last the rest of the year.

And, what I was really coming in to post...MercyMe is going to be in Davenport 9/5...$20 per ticket, evening concert outside at the bandshell along the river:

We brought the water to a slow boil, then put the ears in for 5 minutes, pot was simmering when we pulled the corn out, dip ears in cold water then cut off cob and put in freezer bags, also can do whole ears if you have enough freezer space. We just did a few ears that way but my aunt froze all of hers on the cob.

There are a lot of different ways to do it but my family has done it this way for a long time and we like it.

A couple weeks ago, I said I might be grumpy for a while because little00 was starting kindergarten soon and I wouldn't be seeing him enough, and my replacement as manager was putting in his two weeks notice (Actually, last night was his last night). But, I had some good discussions the last few days with a manager in my area (not my manager, but a manager of people like me), and my boss's boss (which we have a really good relationship as well due to our long history)...feeling significantly better tonight. Like, better than I have in a long time. No actual change in status yet, but I'm pretty darn optimistic.

That is tempting.

Glad to hear work is looking up!

Mrs.00 was going to talk to some friends of ours and see if they're interested, I'll PM you if we're going.

Mlaw: Thanks, man...been a rough couple weeks, and although I'm not outta the woods yet, seeing the light at the end of the tunnel is nice...and it might even be better'n what I hoped for.

NWICY, I would say they are plastic; )

She only likes them for a minute or two. It's more about seeing if I will let her have all four at once.
