I just had a friend post this on Facebook. Completely ignore the politics of it and tell me the fundamental flaw of this meme......

Dad brag:

My daughter's first soccer game was Saturday. I suffered through last Spring where they were playing up in age and got slaughtered week after week (15-0, 12-0, 6-2, etc)

They looked like a completely different team and it was really fun to watch. My daughter didn't score, but she had some great tackles, great skills and had very good field awareness.

It was really nice to see their heads not hanging down after a game.

My one complaint: my daughter didn't get the first foul. We had a pool going and Talia was the leading vote-getter, by a LOT.

However, she did get a nasty bloody nose before the game and stopped it herself using her sleeve. Then she ended up playing the game with a blood soaked jersey and dried blood on her face.

I crossed state lines into Missouri this weekend to take advantage of their tax-free-back-to-school weekend. I wanted to check out a few things and I also needed ink for our printer. I ended up getting a new laptop which is a huge upgrade from our last laptop that I believe still used punch cards.

Then, as I was about to foray into the ink aisle, the salesman said that we could get a new printer for $10. Knowing the cost of ink was going to put me well above that, I opted for a new printer as well.

My problem is that I feel really guilty about doing that. My current printer is maybe a year old and works fine. I hate contributing to the tech garbage heap and usually try to avoid unnecessary upgrades for that very reason. I try really hard to be as green as I can, but retailers are making it very difficult when they do crap like that.
