Cosmosphere was fascinating. Apollo 13 capsule, that Blackbird SR-71, history about Germans V-1 and V-2 rockets, etc.

We have a winner! Tonight's secret word is "V-2 rocket".

My dad posing next to a V-2 rocket section in Nordhausen after the German surrender.

Since it's someone you actually know and not just a file photo, that is seriously one of the coolest things I've seen in the past while, and I'm not even being a smartarse.

What was that German dude who essentially revolutionized our rocketry program? Von Braun/Braum? He is a cool dude to read about. Kind of interesting that he defected from Nazi Austria and started the precursor to NASA.

Wernher von braun, yeah. I'm also a fan of his shavers.

And cool, but not v-2 rocket cool:

Weren't these the planes that essentially just kind of spontaneously combust because of fuel tank issues?

Not sure about that, you might be right...it's the plane that they demanded that the carrier landing Navy plane, the F-16 replacement Air Force plane, and the Harrier replacing Marines plane be basically the same airframe, and they ended up with a $10,000 swiss army knife that doesn't do anything well. They might have gotten away with the Navy and Air Force joining, but the Marines version kinda ruined everything. (full disclosure, I'm not an actual expert, but I follow some of this stuff out of curiosity).

It took RT 3 68 days to get to this post total RT 4 got here in 39 days.

To be fair to 00 RT3 part of that duration included holidays where posting won't be as frequent.

I think I saw a 60 minutes episode on what a trainwreck the developing of these planes was. But I was at a Gf's house for dinner and I had to pretend to pay attention to her parents.

I'd say it was more that at the beginning of RTIII there wasn't a good looking, single girl around for pants and WDSM to trip over each other in their constant efforts to impress her.

Although, I wouldn't really say 'fair to me', I'm not owning that thread in an ego way...RT is bigger than any one of us, now.

Pants is pretty short and easy to trip over.
