Oh, I'm sure there's groups somewhere that want those banned. I'm sure there's also groups that want the Arab looking emoji banned, groups that want the winky face banned, groups that want the peace sign emoji banned and groups that want all emojis banned. The one you're talking about is the one that just so happened to get coverage.

Irrational people are just like porn on the internet. Come up with whatever crazy sounding thing you want, there's a subculture for it out there somewhere.

I disagree. I'm only a fan of one of these things

Rev, Welcome back long time no posts, saw Eric posting in a couple of BB threads thought maybe he let you go on vacation.:). How is his thesis coming along, is all the stuff from the trip working out well?

He is going through the information. He is finding out what he still needs. A lot of the abolitionists got their ideas from Quakers. So he needs more Quaker stuff. I guess it's going well. Time will tell.

It's been busy at work.

My wife doesn't eat leftovers so it is up to me to eat them. We plan our meals so we really only have left over producing meals 1-2 times a week.

With our work schedules, we nearly always intentionally cook for leftovers. On the days she works, Mrs. gets home with the kids at 5-5:30ish, and of course, I'm at work...littlest00 goes to bed at 7:30, so I always try to make sure she's got something in the fridge she can just warm up rather than waste those few hours cooking. Also, I always bring lunch to work(well, dinner, I s'pose), but it's always something leftover. I take a sandwich or something maybe 3-4 times in 6 months. Speaking of which...got a ham in the freezer I need to make...might be sammich time coming up here.

Although, making a turkey this weekend with the in-laws here...so might be sammich time anyway.

On the weekends, I'll make a big meal on Saturday night and Sunday night with the intention that alternating leftovers will get us to Wednesday or Thursday. Wednesday Mrs and I are home without the kids in the morning, so I try and make a meal that is more focused on our tastes rather than trying to cater to the kids (a little)...'date lunch', if you will. Then, if we're dry on meals, I can cook Thursday morning, since I'm home alone those mornings. Since we don't get as much time with all 4 of us together, I try and limit the amount of time that those times are kind of wasted by one of us being in the kitchen cooking.

CG. No one knows what you're talking about.

we avoided running out of time and being in a very, very bad spot on something we run every month. And has run just fine for months. It was bad because coworker has only been running it over the summer while normal person had baby. And this month was super important to run on time and completely. She stayed up most of last night trying to find the problem - in a system she's not super familiar with. Don't think she'd have figured it out without me so we are glad we killed the job and figured it out today. It'd have been really bad had we let it try another 16 hour job and come back Monday with nothing.

So we are relieved and I'm glad I was able to help solve the problem. I feel like a badass.

I am not one, but I feel like one just a leetle bit.

I intentionally cook for leftovers as well. Lunch the last three days was the kale soup thing.

My wife is almost the same way. She won't touch any leftovers after 1 day. I end up eating all the leftovers.

made coworker feel better telling her when I used to have to attempt to run it, I coordinated with an international person and I'd send frantic emails at 10pm saying a job failed and then we'd have like an hour in the morning where we were both in decent time zones to try and figure it out. Fun times. The program likes to take a **** once a year or so, she got the lucky draw. It's almost always for something ridiculously small and easy to fix and something the program should be able to skip around, you'd think. It's like shutting down power to the whole house because one light bulb blew out.

I kind of feel like that could be said about 15% of the time with our beloved CG. I can't be the first that's said it to her. We've seen how her brain works and connects things in the oddest ways.

DH has said that more than once. I tell him it's that my brain moves so fast. One time I went through and explained how I got from thought A to B to C, and while it did make sense then, I think he no longer wanted that glimpse into the inner workings of my brain.

why you gotta be this way, stuff. You run fine for months. Coworker is subbing for new mom on this, and it's a huge month....you've behaved so nicely the last two and now you gotta have problems. This isn't nice.

guys, we think we solved the major problem giving my coworker much stress. Started giving me stress too but I knew worst case we'd just start cutting certain portions of it. It is fixed! I changed like 4 things in a file because that's very research-y method and it worked. Whatever, I didn't have time to try them one by one.

Praiiiiiiiiiiise baby Jebus. Best part is she was trying to catch our boss at some point to get help and I got more involved on it and we got it figured out without involving our boss.

????

I tried to follow along, but the only thing I got out of it is that they probably allow drinking at your workplace.

I think it's very simple.

tl;dr I am a badass who helped fix a problem stopping our program from finishing and putting us in danger of not having things complete in time for this month. Person who normally runs it with me is on maternity leave for another week. So person running it for the summer was not having a good time.

You must do something similar to what my wife does. She'll go on an on about running jobs and jobs failing, usually while rattling off about 45 acronyms. If someone asks me what my wife does, I usually just tell them she's a prostitute. It's just easier that way.

usually I hear about jobs failing from DH on the IT side of things. But I deal with it a bit here too. I usually have no idea how to fix it though because I don't do code. But she found the error - which didn't make a lot of sense to her and we couldn't get access to the right log files to learn more - and I read it and figured it's probably a goddamn tiny little formatting thing in one of the Excel files we use. Even though it ran fine last month. Whatever, I changed like four things in that file and now it runs again. We'll figure out which of the four it was later.

Spoken like a true IT person there, though.
