Random thoughts III

On a semi-related note, I had my first random drug test at work 2 weeks ago (after 8 years of being on the job). They said they'd call me back with results in 48 hours but they didn't even bother. I've never done any illegal drugs my whole life, so I joke with my wife that Concentra can use my pee as the control sample.

Bottle that **** and sell it, man! BDJ could probably use it.

Some mod needs to post a CF tutorial. Lots of noobs and some whining about people trying to be funny in the coaching search thread and not being able to find the actual news. Also people have been begging for some kind of CW and Jeremy only thread. Am I confused about this? Doesn't any actual news show up on the front page? Do people think the forum is all that exists?

Not only that, but the guy asking for a CW and Jeremy thread because it was too hard to wade thru all the joksters trying to be funny...like 2 hours later, he posts about hiring Jake Sullivan or someone stupid like that, and it was clearly the same crap he was complaining about everyone else doing.

We're hiring Jake Sullivan?!?!

I've had two randoms since I've been employed. Contrary to my username, it's been many a year since I have partaken in the illegal stuff.

My sister talked me into smoking weed once when I was 27. Did not go well. Never tried it again. I have many friends that smoke it, and I'm not bothered by being around it. It's the control freak part of me that chooses not to partake. :)

Who knew the Rastafarian orangutan was a square man?

Batting a thousand on drug test (4-4). Every job I had at a news station required a drug test so that's the reason why I had a fair amount.

1 for 1 for me...which reminds me. My current job I had to pre-employment screen. I was driving an hour to do it, so I grabbed a quart of water to make sure I was prepared. Got to the place and my back teeth were floating. "please have a seat, and we'll be with you in a few minutes", I got from them. Barely made it thru the wait, then I filled the cup and could have filled a 12 pack of them. Nurse comes back and says "we may need to have you go again, might not have enough, too diluted" and I'm all "that's because I drank a ton of water to make sure I could go, you shoulda gave me more cups, I coulda filled them all"

Turned out it was fine.

Ironic, isn't it...considering my avatar? I really don't have any problem with it, in fact (at the risk of caving this thread) I would be fine with legalizing it. I simply don't like to be drunk or high...I don't like not being able to control what I say or do.

And regarding the other line of conversation, I have never EVER had to take a drug screening, and would be pretty damn po'd if they tried to make me do one now. I'm not a big fan of random testing. If an employer has a reason to suspect drug abuse I'm a little less negative on the topic. If not, then my bodily fluids belong to me, and I choose when to provide them to a lab (generally for medical diagnoses).

I'm in the "Never have, never will..." camp.

Had a friend who got a false positive on a pre-employment test for a retail job, and was not allowed a second chance. We slightly kidded about the whole poppy seed thing, but he hadn't even done that.

Oh well...he's got a much better job several years later.

Two oldest kids both working places requiring security clearances. Probably will always be taking the drug tests. Neither consider it a big deal, neither wants someone high using some of the equipment at their workplaces.
