All I have are winter gloves and I would just take any gloves off anyway after about 5 minutes

do you have any that you like? There are many choices and many seem on the small side. I like the look of glass ones, but it seems like metal ones have better lid styles that seem like they'd be more airtight. Cause yeah, no bugs in mah food, please.

I don't know what brand they are but we have white plastic ones with a blue air tight lid that snaps on much like Tupperware or Rubbermaid. Not elegant, but I have never found vermin in the flour with these bad boys. Not to mention we go through powdered sugar very slowly and an open bag will keep in its canister for over a year without going bad.

Looking for on the counter designer look or in the cabinets? I just have all of my stuff in old vintage Tupperware that sit in a pull out under cabinet drawer. Unless you are a daily baking kind of person I don't see storing stuff on the counter. The outlet mall kitchen shops have lots of options. About the only stores in those dumb gimmick malls that are look see worthy IMHO.

I'm not a Vegan, Carvers! Those people are weird!

There's a girl in our neighborhood that has a large "VEGAN" sticker on the back of her car, next to a "Stop Eating Crap" sticker. She's REALLY outspoken about not putting bad things in her body.

Yeah, her message loses a little luster since I've never seen her without a cigarette in her mouth.

Agreed.

CG: I apologize to DH in advance for introducing you to this store:

With your organized nature, he won't hear from you for months if you get outside the canisters section. However, if he complains, tell him it's my contribution to his punishment for missing his window the other night.

I second the plastic air tight containers. There are prettier ones out there, but if you are keeping them in a cabinet, then you don't really need them.

I've already seen that website and I have bought exactly nothing from there :)

as far as Boxter's question, DH thinks on the counter, I had been thinking in the cupboard.

I have a mix of Tupperware and Sistema (always find them at TJ Maxx). I keep them in a cupboard, I have enough crsp on the counters. When I ordered Tupperware I failed to measure my cupboards, so two do not fit in there one in front of the other. So I have these puzzle pieced in. I wanted the flour to hold a 5lb bag so I can open and dump the whole thing at one time. And powdered sugar? Went through 2.5 bags last week. ;)

Stores like TJ Maxx and Homegoods usually have a good mix of canister options. I bought a set of oxo canisters from there for a lot less than they'd be in target. You could always go all pinteresty and add a chalkboard sticker to the front as a label.

Oh, and speaking of critters, we often get ants in our front entryway. I saw a few this morning and pulled out our bench to find a couple nice ant hills under it.
