Ring, you can select the option to not have a fb person's status show up in your news feed. Also , I usually don't look for missed posts except the people that I have set as notifications.

This. I turned off one of my friends because she posted more political crap than stuff about her kids. Posting a bunch of stuff on the left or the right irritates the hell out of me.

I'll second what KC said. I never wanted an account, but it is only a matter of time before my daughter has one and I better be familiar with it when she does. I pretty much never post anything, like a few things and comment once in a blue moon.

I'd say 2/3 of my friends (~90) are related to me. So for me, Facebook is a totally different vibe. You do realize you don't HAVE to be "friends" with family members, right? It's that old thing - you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your family. However, you can also pick when you are available to them.

Actually, KC, I believe the saying is that you can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friends' noses.

FB is definitely the main form of interaction for 40yr old moms. ;) Last week when our garage spring broke I had replies from 5-6 neighbors with recommendations on where to get it fixed. We have a group for school related questions/announcements. Someone asked when the first day of school was in the fall and within 5 minutes half a dozen people had replied.

coworker is also moving to a house soon. Trying to get it dealt with (want the sellers to make some repairs) and they have a closing date in early June.

She's due with a baby the week before that.

I do not envy that situation.

carver, I'm going to have to stalk you over here and call you out.

What do you hate so much about Bohemian Rhapsody? I am perplexed.

Some of you need to maybe lighten up you Facebook mood. Last year I posted my first annual Facebook Friends Photo Awards for 2014. The categories:

  • Best Foodie Pictures
  • Best Holiday Family Food Feast Photo
  • Best Shared Recipe Photos of Stuff You Want To Try and Make
  • Oh, Look We Are Vacationing in (insert Carolinas, Colorado, Germany etc)
  • Best Throwback Thursday (TBT) Photo
  • Weird Pictures of God-Knows-What
The winners were all quite pleased.

A few dickheads could have also competed for the "Most Disturbing, Scary and Hateful Political Post" but I have them blocked from my news feed and did not offer up this award.

I was going to leave today at 2 to help out with some event today at my daughter's school. I just got an E-mail saying the event was cancelled due to all of the rain that we got.

So now I'm doing the honorable thing. I'm leaving work at 2 today anyway!

2 hours and counting, *******
