Random thoughts III

I'm sort of a designated problem solver here at work. I've run into a scenario where every option leads to a worse outcome. I'm feeling mortal and not liking it one bit.

Have you considered bacon? Ask SaraV....when you have a problem, and can't find an answer....try bacon. It worked for her.

I'm kind of like a pork fat oracle.

Good one.

I finished an evening midterm and then drove about 150 miles to be there when my oldest was born. I was only going about 5 over the speed limit at first because I was told I had plenty of time. By the end of it I was going 30-35 over because I was afraid I was going to miss it.

One of my sons was on a transport returning from deployment when his wife went into labor early. He knew nothing about it...he was already en route when it started. When the flight landed at the base, the base CO entered the plane and barked out "SSgt *******". Son figured he was in deep doo doo...
CO pulled him off the transport & straight to his car, then drove him to the hospital. He got there with about 20 minutes to spare...just enough time to scrub. :)

I'd think I was in trouble too if my CO called me Sgt. *******.

All this talk about babies.

My fiance currently has baby fever. She's ready to start trying shortly after the honeymoon.

There are 8 women pregnant at the school she works at right now. Not a big school either. Almost all the ladies are that mid to late 20s age where everyone is pregnant all the time. I told her the principal should make them get preggo in cycles, so they aren't all gone at the same time. Of course the principal is currently on maternity leave.

I have called the wife a couple of times because the little girls want to go see the baby. She is making excuses for him. Apparently his cell battery was dead and he didn't know it? Seems like he would be checking that thing at least every hour anyway.

I think he should get his tail over here and take his daughters to meet their brother so I don't have to dig a car seat out of the basement that hasn't been used for about 12 years. I think he is afraid to see me in a not public place. Maybe I will go back to their garage and see if the wife's car is locked or if I can get her car seat.

The five year old claims they don't use a booster seat or anything but a seat belt on her.

Arrgh, that last sentence makes me cringe. Do you think that she is telling the truth? I have boosters, a car seat (pretty sure it is "expired" but better than nothing), and an infant seat all sitting in my garage.

Different era, different cars, but my kids were out of boosters by the age of five...

My nearly 8 year old still has a booster seat. It really does put the seat belt in the right position so it doesn't pull on their neck.

When we got pg with our first, I was working in the schools. Spring babies were desirable because you could have the last few weeks/months off and the whole summer. Oldest was born mid May. Now that she is older it is absolutely the busiest time of the year. (And we had another mid-May baby 8 years later). Their birthday weekend this year we have a spring gymnastics show, an all day softball tournament, trying to fit in a party with family for the youngest, movie night at Jack Trice, and the hubby leaves for a work trip.

I'm listening....

Yeah, we are thinking we will shoot for the end of the school year too. Have all summer plus six weeks off.

Combined with the baby fever is the GIRL BABY FEVER. My mother has 3 grandsons and her mom has no grandkids at all. My brother and his wife aren't planning on having any more kids so the pressure's all on me to deliver the pink chosen one.

My mom, mother-in-law, sister, and sister-in-law, are all going to freak out if we have a girl. It will be a pink explosion.

No pressure on me or anything though. Thanks a lot.

If we end up having a boy I'm guessing my gal will want to have more than one baby. YAY! Four kids (at least) in one house!

I think little Lila is telling the truth. However, it is fairly obvious her parents are nimrods.

I have secured both the old car seat and an old booster from the basement. If I get the go ahead to take them to the hospital, I am going to try and sell the booster seat on Lila by telling her it was used by one of my teenagers whom she seems to have a terrible crush on.

Her little sister appears down for the count for the moment. Walking the dog was an exhausting adventure for all of us but the dog.
